Thursday, second day at a new school.
"Mia, you'll be fine." Abbs said through the phone, I wiped a tear off my face and pulled my shirt down.
"I'm a loser, nobody wants to be friends with me, I'm literally going to be alone forever." I said, gathering my school stuff.
"I will smack you through this phone. Shut up. Your fine. I'm here for you. Now, I've got to get ready. Call me after school." She said. I hung up and looked in the mirror. Skinny ole me. Don't have a boyfriend or friends in general. I walked downstairs and grabbed a water out of the fridge and headed to my car. I plugged in my phone to the aux and played "no problem by chance the rapper" and threw my book bag in the front seat.
Pulling into the school parking lot gave me an overwhelming amount of anxiety. Some guys were crowded around another truck talking, a few parking spots away from my assigned spot. I turned down my music and put up my roof. I grabbed keys and phone and got out the car. While walking over to my passenger door, I heard the group of boys chat about me.
"Who's the new girl"
"dammmn, look at her"
"oh shit, go talk to her, no balls"
"naw, that's not how that works."
"If nobody's talking to her, I will."But, I ignored the comments and grabbed my books. I pulled up my jeans and pulled my shirt down a little, then swung my backpack over my shoulder. I looked around for the entrance of the building, and just my luck, it's past the group of boys. I locked my car and began to walk. As I approached the group, my anxiety grew. I walked past them and nobody talked, so I picked up my pace and walked a little faster. But then, one of the boys ran up to me. "Hey, are you new here?" He stumbled to say. I smiled and nodded. "Can I show you around?" He smiled back. "I'm kian." He said.
"I'm Mia, I'd love if you'd show me around." I said.
"So, where are you from?" Kian asked as we walked through the parking lot.
"I'm from California, just a different city." I explained.
"Do you play sports? Me personally, I play football, the team try outs are coming up here soon."
"No, I'm more into music. But I watch football with my dad sometimes when it's on." I laughed.
"So you sing?" He smiled. I looked at him, blushed and laughed.
"Yeah, a little." I said.
"Why are you blushing? Did I embarrass you or something?" He asked.
"No, it's just that people don't really take interest into me. Ever actually." I said swiping a piece of hair behind my ear.
"Their loss. I've only known you for a few minutes and your pretty interesting." He said with a toothy smile.
"Thank you, I'd have to say, your pretty interesting yourself." I said as we approached the front doors of the school. Kian stepped in front of me and opened the door. I nodded and smiled.
"Now, are you always this happy or are you just in a good mood?" He asked laughing.
"Oh, definitely just in a good mood, I can be very grumpy, and sad."
After small talk and Kian showing me around school after getting my schedule, we stopped by my 1st period class. "So, I declare that I am your first friend at this school, and as your friend, we must now exchange numbers." He said smiling. I nodded and handed him my phone.
"Very smooth." I laughed. He handed me back his phone and I smiled. "Kian😚"
"Text me, if you need help, I'm here. Hope you have a good day. Maybe we will have the same lunch. You can sit with me and the boys." He said. I nodded and headed into my class. I asked the teacher where to sit and he pointed to the desk and I sat.
Me: kian, I need help.
Kian😚: what's wrong?
Me: I don't have any friends 😩
Kian😚: lol, sorry, you've gotta make those on your own, or I can be your only friend, scary😂
Me: yikes!
Kian😚: sorry! Being independent sucks:/
Me: class is starting, I'll text you later.
Kian😚: lol noooo, don't leave. Okay, I don't have any friends either.
Me: sorry, can't help you there. You've gotta make those on your own, or I can be your only friend, scary.
Kian😚: well played. Do your work.
I sat my phone down and looked around me. Girls were talking and boys were looking at the girls, a few at me. I put my head down and closed my eyes.
"Alright class, as you may know, we did gain a student but that doesn't change anything. New student, would you like to stand up and introduce yourself?" My head slowly raised and I stood up.
"Uh, sure, hi. My name is Mia and I moved from San Francisco," I said. Some girls smiled and some just stared. But, all the boys were looking, unfortunately. I quickly sat down and grabbed my phone.
Me: holy shit
Me: holy shit
Me: ughhhhKian😚: what's up?
Me: my teacher just made me introduce myself in front of the class and ALL the boys were staring. I'm so embarrassed.
Kian😚: not to sound douchie, but that's not a bad thing, your very good looking.
Me: thank you but I'm sure all the girls don't stare at you.
Kian😚: I've caught a few. Listen, you'll be fine. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there.
Me: okay, I'll try.
"Today, were going to be writing essays, on why or why not homework should be longer" the teacher said.
The bell finally rang, which took forever, I pulled out my schedule and was looking for my next class.
Kian😚: look up, I'll help you.
I looked up and Kian had his back against the wall, starting at me. "Thank you so much." I said walking towards him. We began to walk to my next class when a girl walked past me and gave me a dirty look. "Do you know her?" I asked as she walked past.
"Yeah. Why?"
"She just gave me the dirtiest look I've ever seen."
"She's crazy. She's my ex. She cheated on me so I broke it off but she claimed she was in love with me. She won't hurt you though, I won't let her." He said throwing his arm around me. I blushed and kept walking.
