Meeting the Forest.

Neal.

My feet stepped across the sandy beach on the west side of the island I had arrived on. A soft groan slipped from my lips as I held onto my left side, close to my collarbone. "Fucking hell." I growled out from the pain.

I had always been one to swear when angry. It wasnt a quality I was proud of, but it also wasnt a quality that I had any intention of fixing anytime soon.

The wind whipped through my long dark hair and past my sun kissed skin. The cool breeze sent chills up and down my spine. It wasnt something I was used to. Normally I was used to the thermo climbs in the water I swam in.

I didnt let my mind wander too far as I continued my trek up onto the beach. It wasnt my first time on land so I wasnt surprised that my tail and fins melted back into my skin. I was also proud that I wasnt a stumbling mess. Yet.

The pain from my wound was slowly starting to numb into a dull throb. "Not good." I muttered. I looked up towards the treeline. "Huh, the area here looks kinda fuzzy" I tilted my head to the side in confusion as I examined the area around me.

As I pushed onwards, I managed to maneuver myself into the tropical forest in front of me.

However I didnt get too far when I had to sit down and take a breath. "I wont get very far if I cant even walk." I grumbled to myself.

I let my eyes close for a short moment. "Just for a little while..." I mumbled to myself as my eyes drooped close and my head leaned back agaisnt a tree.

My frail legs spread out in front of me and now both of my hands went to the deepinging wound that was currently bleeding profusely. I just felt so languid. Almost as if I had ate an anemone. The purple and green ones. The kind that we were told to never eat under any circumstances.

After what I had estimated to be about twenty minutes, I was pulled back into conciousness when something touched my side and pain was shot back through my system.

"Ah-!" I had yelped out sharply. My eyes shot open at an inhumane pace and quickly darted around to access my situation.

In front of me knelt a gorgeous woman with light green hair and dark skin. From what I could make out her skin seemed to transfer and become wood the further down you looked. A vine like dress covered her lean body and she had the most kind eyes. A soft brown that seemed to sparkle with what I could only tell was excitement.

Her outstretched hand had pushed mine away and was currently pulling my skin open a bit more so she could examine my wound

Her outstretched hand had pushed mine away and was currently pulling my skin open a bit more so she could examine my wound. "Oh so you are alive!" She exclaimed in an excited tone. "Let's get you fixed up then shall we?" She arched her eyebrow and leaned forwards a bit more as she produced a thin vine.

Being the feisty merman I am, I had been taught to defend myself and not let any strangers touch me or speak to me. "No thank you I can handle my own problems." I frowned and then looked down at her hands.

She had ignored my statement. "Hey! Did you not hear me?" I questioned as I eyed her vines that seemed to creep around my arms and neck, holding me in place.

"Yes darling. I did hear you. However I'm not going to let someone of your species die when I can do something about it." She pushed her hair out of her face as she used the thread like vine to sew my wound closed.

As the vine punctured through my skin and tugged it closed, it created growls and loud yells of pain to fill up inside me and escape.

My frantic eyes searched for a way to escape as I fought the vines holding me down. "Stop. Moving." She spoke in a harsh tone to me.

As she finished tying the knot that held back the wound, my body relaxed and so did the vines. They pulled back from my body.

I brushed my hands over my arms and neck, hissing at the rope burn that had been created. "Okay. Thank you for patching me up. I really must go now." I pushed myself to my feet and then held my hand towards her to shake.

"Awh so soon?" She grabbed my hand and then turned around, "come on! Let's get some food into you first huh?" A cheeky grin was plastered across her face as she literally dragged me across the forest floor and around a couple of palm trees.

"Oh-" a small squeak sounded as I pulled on my hand. No way in hell was I going to escape her grasp.

As we arrived in front of her cute little cottage I sighed softly and followed her inside. She had let my wrist go a while ago.

I followed her inside where she pointed towards a stool in front of a table. Tea was already hot and waiting and I had no idea when she even had the time to do that.

She sat down across from me and placed her elbows onto the table and rested her chin on her hands. "So! I'm Lilly Rain but you can call me Ri. What's your name sweet cheeks?"

I sighed out at her choice of nickname but instead just decided to respond. " Neal. Hi Ri" I took a sip of the tea in front of me and licked my lips. It tasted sweet and minty.

She gave me an amused look just before she took a sip herself. " How did you find me?" I questioned.

She pulled her legs up and sat criss cross on the seat, which I copied because she looked comfortable. "The forest told me!" She exclaimed. "Also I was out looking for a certain kind of herb for one of my clients." She glanced up at the clock on her wall. "Hes very picky. Hell also be here in an hour and a half." The tall woman then jumped up from her spot and walked with haste out of the room, calling behind her shoulder. "Stay as long as you wish darling! I've got to prepare the herb for that damn vampire."

I nodded my head and then settled down into my seat so that I could finish my tea. I didnt actually have anywhere else to go currently. I could wait a little bit. It would eventually be better if I moved on though. People were out looking for me and I did not wish to be found.

Slowly after I had finished my tea, I dozed off, leaning up agaisnt the wall and the table. Her home was comfortable and relaxing.
