Neal.

Three loud raps on wood had been sounded out through the house awoke me. I groaned softly and reached up to rub my eyes as I sat up a little bit.

Something had shifted in my lap and I looked down to see a blanket was covering me and a big chunky house cat with three eyes was asleep on my lap.

I softly ran my hand down the creatures back, it let out small purrs and stood up in my lap.

I listened as Ri practily flew towards the front door to open it up to the stranger that had knocked on it. I looked out across the kitchen and out the window. It was dark out now. I glanced up at the clock above my head and tilted my head to the side. "How the hell do I read this." The clock was in human letters. I couldn't read those yet. I was still learning about human life before I lef- no.

I shook that train of thought from my head as I picked the cat like creature up and cradled it to my chest. The blanket had been forgotten and was now draped over the stool and on the floor.

I walked slowly and quietly towards the wall and doorway so I could peer into the front hallway and watch Rain.

She was smaller than the man that was currently inside the doorway. Not by a lot though. That was still saying something because she toward over me. She greeted the male and pulled him into a hug with a friendly smile on her face. "Its so good to see you again Elliot!" The male who I had just learnt the name of smiled back down at her and hugged her. As I studied Elliots features, I quickly noticed the two sharp fangs that poked out just past his bottom lip.

"Oh fuck no" I muttered under my breath and hugged the cat to my chest. Slowly and quietly I backed my way up and tried to make an escape.

There was no way in hell I was going to let a vampire take me. Rain was one thing but a vampire was completely different. To a vampire, mermaids were a delicacy. Our blood was desirable to them.

I continued to back up, though since I wasnt familiar with my surroundings I stumbled and dropped the cat creature as I bumped into the table. The teacups were set rattling and the cat ran from the kitchen.

"What was that?" I heard a gruff voice say. That was the last straw for me. I quickly span around and started to search for a different door I could leave in.

Panic was setting in and the only possible exit I could see was a window above the sink. "Fuck it." I whispered as I climbed up onto the sink and lifted the window open.

Elliot.

I took in a deep breath as I watched Creature, the three eyed cat run from the kitchen. That struck me as odd. That chunky bastard didnt run for anything unless he was startled or food was involved.

As I smelt the air around me, it smelt off. The cottage had something new in it. No. Someone new. I shot a look at Rain " what was that?"i questioned. She put her hands up in front of me. " guest?" She had a mischievous look about her.

I gently moved her to the side so that I could follow the scent into the kitchen. As I rounded the corner I heard a soft "fuck it".

After turning the corner, I watched as a small frail looking male balanced on the edge of the windowsill.

I took a couple quick steps forwards and wrapped an arm around the males waist. I picked him up and dragged him back into the house. "Who the hell are you?" I growled into his ear. Making sure that my fangs grazed it.

He smelt like blood and the ocean. I tried my best to not pay much attention to the smell as I felt my arm become wet. An unmistakable warm dark liquid wet my arm.

"You're bleeding." I silently thanked the heavens above that I had a hearty meal this morning. Literally.

I then tucked the male into my chest and walked back into the hallway. "Thank you Rain. Now tell me about this delectable creature I've got in my arms here." I took the small leather bag of my herbs from her.

Rains eyes darted down to the fresh blood on my arm and then she sighed "His name is Neal. He was stabbed. I was going to wait a bit longer before asking you to take him for proper medical attention but it seems that the bugger has forced fate otherwise."

With a nod of my head I thank her again and gently wrap the squirming and fighting Neal up in a blanket to keep him warm as I step out into the night again.

It didn't take the squirming and fighting Neal long to wear down my patience. "Stop." I growled out.

I looked down as the merman froze up in my arms."I am taking you back to my home for proper medical attention and care." I took the chance to pull Neal tighter to my chest. "I'm not going to drink your blood." I rolled my eyes as I saw him relax a little bit.

I took quick steps back towards the beach. It didnt take me long to get there. That was where my friend was waiting to pick me up in his chopper. Rain did live on an island after all.

"There. Better." I cooed into Neal's ear as his eyes slowly drifted closed. I could tell by listening to the steady beat of his heart that he would be fine. He just needed proper care.
