After the hour and a half conversation, they told me I could go upstairs and relax. I locked the door behind me. I know very well they had the key, but it still made me feel better.
I went over to a desk that was on the far wall. I opened the top drawer and found a blue journal, sticky notes, pencils, and pens. I needed to write out my plan. Maybe start a diary? I knew I couldn't write in it each night, but maybe I could and then hide it somewhere.
Dear Diary,
I don't know how long I've been here, but I can't wait to be home again. They might give me everything here, but I'd rather struggle than be stuck with two lunatics. They are drop dead gorgeous, though. So, Atleast a good sight right? It's funny cause Nick went through all this trouble, when he could have just talked to me. This didn't have to be like this. Now, I'm terrified to do something. But, I now have an even bigger problem. It seems that both of them have taken a liking to me. I think it was only supposed to have been Nick, but now it's both Nick and Jace. Maybe I can turn them against each other? I don't know, but I'm gonna get out of here. I'm gonna make an escape. I will have my old life back. I'm terrified, but I can't sit back and do nothing. It'll be exactly what they want. I have to think of aI heard footsteps coming and quickly slid the notebook under the bed. I would have to find a better hiding place later. "Jenna?" I laid on the bed and turned back, pretending to be asleep. I heard the door open and knew it was Jace. He sat down on the bed next to me. He began brushing his hand through my hair.
It took EVERYTHING in me not to smack him. I can play nice, but I was still upset over him hitting me and calling me names. "I'm so sorry for everything beautiful. I'll fix this I promise. I'll make sure you fall for me." What. An. Idiot. I can't believe he whispered that. Now I know that he does. If Nick finds out, this could end bad. What if Jace could help her escape?
I did not know what to do. "Jace, is she okay?" I heard Nick yell from downstairs. Jace covered me up, then kissed the side of my head. "I hope you'll forgive me Jenna." I heard the door close, and my eyes widened. This was either gonna end really bad or end in my favor.
