"Aleah, why do you always leave so soon?" Felix questioned her softly. She was about to leave, but now she was anchored to the spot. "You used to stay for hours with me. And now, I fear that you may never come back. You see, you used to come every single day. But you visit me only once a week, now." He tapped his fingers on his desk.
She shook her head.
"I have plenty of schoolwork, Felix. I can't spend all of my time here anymore." She scoffed. They had grown distant over the months, him sad and vacant, her bitter and hostile.
"I'm sorry. I miss the old you. The one who laughed at my poetry jokes, who smiled back." He looked up and stared into her hazel eyes. They softened for a moment, and he could see something terribly wrong with her. She began to shake violently in her chair, rocking back and forth.
"I miss the old me too. I really, really do." She stood up suddenly, swaying slightly as she walked slowly towards the door. It was cold and snowy outside, but she walked out without her jacket.
He didn't expect her to ever come back. But she did.
