*Briars POV*

*FLASHBACK*

Snow fell down rapidly around us as we quickly hurried to get inside and away from the coldness of outside. I had seen some pretty bad winters here in this little town before, but this was by far the worst blizzard yet. School had already been canceled for the last two days and I knew we wouldn't been in school for the rest of the week. But who was I to complain?

My best friend followed me inside the house nearly pushing me through the door. As soon as we were inside and the door shut behind us we immediately dashed for the kitchen. Snow days with my best friend were always spent eating a shit ton of junk food and consuming an unhealthy amount of hot chocolate. Most of the time we would just lounge around on the couch and watch our favorite movies and YouTube, or jam out to music.

We had just gotten back from picking up some Chinese takeout and were going to proceed to eating and watching Tim Burton movies in the living room. Serenity had been my best friend since day one of Kindergarten. We instantly became friends the moment she complimented my blue My Little Pony shirt and then I asked her to sit beside me. The two of us have been inseparable ever since. We both were into the same music, fashion style, movies, and so on. There was hardly ever a day that went by without us seeing one another. Everyone knew how close we were. There was nothing we wouldn't do for each other.

"You know Briar, I'm going to miss this when we graduate. All the excitement and junk food on snow days."

I smiled at my best friend and popped a piece of sweet and sour chicken into my mouth. "We still have a whole year after this one Serenity."

She pulled the blanket off the back of the couch and covered us both with it before taking an eggroll from the box. "Don't remind me. I can't wait to graduate and actually start life." The opening theme for Corpse Bride started playing and I huffed at the thought of the real world outside of high school.

"You mean you're ready for working till the day you die just to pay the bills? Trust me, I'm in no hurry."

"No, you're not thinking of all the positives Briar! I'm excited for all the adventures and people and love. There will be no boundaries to hold us back. And you're coming with me through it all."

I couldn't help but smile at the cheeriness in her voice. Serenity always was the one all about looking at the bright side of things. "Well then the world better be ready for us."

My mom arrived home two hours later from work, but didn't stay up long due to being tired. We continued to watch movies until about eleven at night when Serenity announced that she was going to head home. The conditions outside were not at all favorable and I tried my hardest to convince her to stay the night. "I only live ten minutes down the road Briar. Plus I have four-wheel drive and the county usually does a good job at keeping the roads clear."

I rolled my eyes sarcastically and scoffed. "Yeah that's why we've been out of school for three days now."

She grabbed her jacket from off it's hook and put it on before grabbing her keys. "Briar, I'll be fine."

After trying for another ten minutes of convincing her to stay, I finally gave up knowing there was no changing her mind. "Please be careful and text me later."
