The Pain Of Loss

(I bear all of this pain. All of these deaths. It isn't easy to deal with. I only make it seem like it doesn't bother me, but it hurts so fucking badly. But I made the decision to make everything right again.)

*Y/N Pov*

I logged out and started to break down. Tears were coming out. I don't know how much more I can take of losing people. I have to keep dealing with it to get to my goal. That's why I hate this. Killing to get to the wish. I will fix everything, that's a promise to the people that have died because of A.R.E. I hear knocking at my door and I look at my door.

Skylar: "Y/N, can I come in?"

I get up and unlock the door and sit on my bed. Looking down at the floor. I hear the door open and Sky comes in.

Skylar: "You've been in here for a few hours now. Are you feeling okay?"

Y/N: "..."

Skylar: "Y/N? Are you crying?"

She walks over to me and sits next to me.

Skylar: "What's wrong?"

Y/N: "E-Everything recently has been like a nightmare..."

Skylar: "What do you mean?"

Y/N: "My friend Ant... He just died..."

Skylar: "I'm sorry for your loss. A lot has been happening recently huh?"

Y/N: "Y-Yeah, a lot has happened. I feel like a monster and now people I care about are dying..."

Skylar: "Why do you feel like a monster?"

Y/N: "It's about the thing I was gonna tell you. You remember that nightmare I had about the gang?"

Skylar: "Yeah, that wasn't long ago."

Y/N: "Well, that nightmare was going to become real. If I didn't stop those gang members..."

Skylar: So... You killed them...?"

Y/N: "That's all I could do. If I didn't then you guys would have died because of me. I feel horrible for what I did. The gang leader called me a monster and I agree with him."

Skylar: "You feel bad for what you did?"

Y/N: "Yeah, I do. But if I didn't do it then other family's would have been killed as well."

Skylar: "Then you aren't a monster."

Y/N: "What?"

Skylar: "You feel bad, that means you have a heart. You did this to protect others so they wouldn't die. You were worrying about others. Not yourself."

Y/N: "Y-You aren't scared of me?"

Skylar: "I was at first, but not anymore. You probably just saved my life without me knowing. You saved a lot of peoples lives without them knowing. So, thank you."

Skylar hugs me.

Y/N: "I'm just doing what I think is right. Me killing the gang, didn't feel like it was right but it did at the same time."

Skylar: "That's because you were killing. You never had that feeling before."

Only if she knew about A.R.E.. She would know that I have killed in there, but it feels more like a game when I kill people in there.

Y/N: "Yeah. It's just something I'm going to need to live with for the rest of my life."

Skylar: "We all have to live with something that is bad for the rest of our lives."

Y/N: "I guess."

Skylar: "Everyone is home now. Come eat dinner."

Y/N: "Okay..."

*Timeskip*

It's the next day and I was thinking about hanging out with Cody. We don't see each other much anymore so it would be nice to talk once in a while. I walk over to his rooms door and knock on it.

Y/N: "Cody, wanna hang out?"

No answer.

Mom: "Cody isn't here."

Y/N: "Where is he?"

Mom: "He went to hang out with some friends."

Y/N: "Oh, okay. Thanks for letting me know."

I head back into my room. I look at the helmet and just stare at it for a while. I have to win this, It's all I can think about right now. Win the game and get that wish. I grab the helmet and put it on.

*In A.R.E.*

I look around and see I'm in a forest. How the fuck did I get here? Well, maybe I can at least get some XP while I try to get out of here. I walk around for a bit and end up finding a tree house. It had stairs going up to it. This really reminds me of E.V.E. now. I pull my pistol out and slowly go up the stairs. Once I got up the stairs I saw a window and heard some voices. Seems to be three people in there.

???: "Cody, you gotta rank up at some point. How do you think you're going to win?"

Cody? Please tell me this isn't my brother.

Cody: "I don't want to kill anyone. But I want the wish."

Of course it's him. I crouch under the window and walk over to the door.

???: "The two of us are ranked Cody! The only way to win is by killing!"

I go around the door, pointing my gun at them.

Y/N: "Cody, what the fuck are you doing here?!"

Cody: "Y/N?!"

???: "Who the fuck are you?!"

Y/N: "I'm Cody's older brother. Don't try to pressure my brother into ranking up."

Cody: "Why are you here?"

Y/N: "I could ask you the same thing."

I say that and next thing I saw was Cody's two friends get shot in the head.

Y/N: "What the fuck?!"

I look to my left and see someone I thought I wouldn't see again. Chad. He looks at me and points his gun at me.

Chad: "It's good to see you too, mother fucker."

Y/N: "How the fuck are you here?! I thought you were in jail!"

Chad: "I had someone help me get out of there, but don't worry. I'm not here to kill you, yet."

Y/N: "Then why are you here?"

Chad: "I want to fight you at the end, the duel. How about we team up for now and at the end we can settle things."

Y/N: "Why the fuck would I team with you?"

Chad: "I don't like the idea either. But if you really want to make it to the end, then you better cut the lone wolf shit and team up with others."

I just look at him, not really trusting him. Why would I trust him? After all the shit he has pulled, I have no reason to trust him.

Cody: "The three of us could team up."

Y/N: "You do realize that he just killed your friends, right?"

Cody: "That's... It's fine. I can deal with that."

Chad: "The three of us, to the end and then we can settle things once and for all."

Chad holds his hand out to me and I look at it. I grab his hand and shake it.

Chad: "But if you try to betray me, then I will kill you."

Y/N: "Same thing goes for you."
