It was 12:30 in the morning and Veronica tossed and turned. She couldn't sleep, knowing JD was still out there probably causing chaos. Veronica had enough of him causing trouble and hurting her so much, so she moved from Sherwood Ohio to Toledo to get away from him. She gave up trying to sleep, so she got out of bed and made some tea.

As she got the mug out of the cupboard, she dropped it, seeing as the cup from when she and JD had killed Heather Chandler. It smashed and, instead of going to pick up the sweeping brush, she let out a sob and collapsed to the floor, she couldn't control herself anymore as she knew she still loved and missed him, despite all he had done. She just wanted him to knock on her door and surprise her, but he couldn't- he wasn't supposed to know where she was.

"What the fuck is wrong with me?" She wept. picking the broken mug pieces up and putting them in the bin.

Just as she was about to get another mug out of the cupboard, she heard a knock at the door. Veronica looked at the time. The clock read 12:45.

"Who would be here at this time?" She said to herself. She quickly walked to her bedroom and got her dressing gown, whilst hearing repetitive knocks on the door.

"IM COMING!" She shouted to the mysterious person behind the door.

She walked towards the door and looked through the peep hole, although she couldn't see anything since it was pitch black outside.

As she opened the door, she saw a man standing there. She couldn't quite make out who he was. "Who are you?" She said, growing worried he had found her

"Hello Veronica," the man said walking up to the light. As he stepped closer, she let out a sigh of relief. It was her father, Nicholas.

"Dad? What are you doing here?" She asked, shocked to see her father standing there at ten to one in the morning.

"I have some news, Well quite a lot of news, can I come in?" He asked, gesturing to how he was dripping rain onto the hallway carpet

"Of course, come in," Veronica opened the door wider for him to enter and sat down on the couch next to him. "So, what's the news?"

"Uhm.. well, it's not exactly good. Veronica, do you remember Peggy? The house cat?" He asked, uncertain if she would remember from all those years ago.

"Of course I do, she was like my best friend until I moved. " Veronica said, yawning slightly.

"Well, Veronica... Peggy died. Last night" he was uncertain on how Veronica would react.

"Oh.. Oh, God." she held her head in her hands, letting out tears. It wasn't just the cat, and she knew this.

It was the fact that her and JD both chose Peggy and looked after her. It was like having their own child, and now they are both gone. Except... JD can come back if he found her and that's- that's not what she wanted. Did she?

"Oh Veronica, I didn't realise it would make you this upset.." he sighed, rubbing her back

"Dad? What's wrong with me?" Nicholas looked at her uncertain of what she meant.

"Nothings wrong with you. Why do you ask?"

"I just- I can't get over the fact that...I'll never see.. him again" A few more tears fell.

"That's what you wanted wasn't it? And you don't deserve someone like him. He was horrible to you and you know that.." he tried to comfort her, but she couldn't help crying just a little more.

"Maybe he's changed? But if he hasnt, what if he finds me? You never know what he is capable of until he does it.." She mumbled to herself.

"This is exactly why you shouldn't miss him. You don't want him back do you?" Veronica shook her head.

"But I do at the same time..." he sighed, "Look, I know it's hard to get over someone, but everything will be fine." he comforted her.

"What's the other news?" She asked, looking up, "You said you had other news?"

"Well, this.. this may shock you. Those tests you took before you left? well they came back. It's post traumatic stress." Veronica looked up at him as he told her.

"Wh-what do you mean?" She stuttered. not knowing how to handle the news.

"Well because of.. you know who," by that She could tell he meant JD, "Because of his violent nature, and the things he put you through, you have PTSD. Explains the insomnia you've been telling me about, too." The way he spoke about it it seemed like it was no big deal.

She sighed, "Okay, well do I get any medication?" She asks, as he hands her a piece of paper with a prescription printed onto it, "serotonergic Antidepressants. When you get them, you take one at the same time every day." She takes the prescription from his hands and sets it on the coffee table in front of them.

Veronica looks at him and holds her arms out for a hug, and he accepts. . "You're probably tired, you should sleep.. and I need to get back to your mother. Hopefully the freeway's cleared up, huh? " he laughed, standing up. She followed him over to the door and opened it for him.

"Okay, bye Dad. I'll talk to you soon? " She waved as he made his way back down the hall. She stepped back into the apartment and sat down, looking over the prescription one last time, before walking back to her room. She collapsed face-first onto the mattress, feeling a little more at ease.
