Amelia's POV

The police showed up not too long after Tiffany had called them. I had this horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach, only wishing that I would have done something more this morning to make her wait for me.

The diner had closed, which never happened unless it was Christmas day. It was a 24 hour diner, so the customers must have figured that something was wrong when they showed up to find a "Sorry We're Closed" sign in the door & two police cars parked out front. It was now around 9:30 at night. Everyone who had seen Oakley in the past 48 hours were being questioned for any possible details. The only person who hadn't bee at the diner already that has been in contact with her within that time was Harry. One of the police officers asked for me to call him, so I did. That was over half an hour ago, so I figured he would be here soon.

Harry had just started a week long break, taking his vacation time. His last shift was the afternoon shift yesterday. Even though he was on vacation, I knew he was still in town for the week, & he sounded very concerned when I told him that no one had seen Oakley since early this morning & he needed to come down to the diner to make a statement.

A few minutes later there was a knock at the door. I got up from the the counter where I had been sitting on a stool. I hadn't made my statement yet. Niall was still making his, then I would be next. I looked out to see that it was Harry & unlocked the door to let him in.

"What's going on?" He asked. "Where is she?"

"I don't know." I responded. "I haven't seen her since this morning. Niall said she never came home."

"Do you know where she could be? I mean, there's just no way she would run away. That's just not something she would do."

"I know." I agreed. "I think she was walking through the forest alone again."

"I've told her not to walk the forest trail by herself a thousand times."

"I know, so have I. But you know Oakley. Oakley does what Oakley wants."

"I know... Hopefully she's okay."

"I hope so too."

"Amelia." Niall called my name as he approached Harry & I. "They want you to go & make your statement now."

"Okay. Thanks." I walked away from Harry & Niall & made my way to the back of the diner where the officers had set up a station with a laptop to take statements.

Harry's POV

I rushed to the diner as soon as I got off the phone with Amelia. When I got there a closed sign was on the door & the door was locked. I knocked on it & waited a few seconds until Amelia let me in.

"What's going on? Where is she?" I asked.

"I don't know." Amelia responded. "I haven't seen her since this morning. Niall said she never came home."

"Do you know where she could be? I mean, there's just no way she would run away. That's just not something she would do." I insisted

"I know." Amelia agreed. "I think she was walking through the forest alone again."

"I've told her not to walk the forest trail by herself a thousand times." II stated.

"I know, so have I. But you know Oakley. Oakley does what Oakley wants." & I knew Amelia was right. Oakley can be pretty stubborn.

"I know... Hopefully she's okay." I said.

"I hope so too." She replied.

"Amelia." Niall called as he approached Amelia & I. "They want you to go & make your statement now."

"Okay. Thanks." She said. Before giving both of us a half smile & then walking to the back of the diner.

"When was the last time you saw her?" Niall asked me.

"Yesterday night when she came in to start her shift. I only had an hour left to work by the time she got here."

"So you have no idea what could have happened?"

"I wish I did. But honestly I have no idea where she could be. Amelia said she might have taken the forest trail this morning. That's all I know."

"Yeah, that's what she told me too." He paused for a moment. "Don't get nervous when they take your statement Harry." He told me. He was right to say that. I tend to become nervous in stressful situations, & I've known Oakley for about a year now. I really liked her. She was a great friend & an awesome person to be around. I really hoped that wherever she was, that she was okay. I nodded in response to what Niall was telling me.

"Just say what you know, tell the truth. That's it." I nodded again & we sat at the counter & just waited.
