"Get out of there Kai,"I whisper shouted to my twin brother who had climbed into the ball rack, "They could kick us out."

"They can do that?" He asked stupidly.

"Yes, they can do that," I hissed getting aggravated. He began climbing out, as he spilled all the balls on to the floor.

One of the reasons I didn't like bringing my twin to the supermarket with me — he always managed to get into some sort of trouble. I thought of Mom who'd forced me to bring Kai, I told you so. Well at least I hadn't  taken him to Woolworths, then he would've made a total fool of himself and more importantly, me. Not as if I even have a reputation.

I began searching for the baked beans Mom had assigned me to get. She'd wanted to make her famous Chakalaka for the Wallace's welcome back party for their son, Caleb. I wasn't very happy about his return from visiting his Dad in Durban. He'd tormented me for the past 11 years, it was nice having him gone for a few days.

My brother had been best friends with him since they were 5. It was fine till he turned 8, then he started teasing me. Nothing terrible happened until we turned 10 — he broke my leg whilst we went tree climbing by scaring me ,but I can't remember what he told me, I freaked out and fell out of the tree which broke my leg.

Since then, he hasn't really had a good reputation with me. He knows I don't like him and the feeling is mutual. I didn't really want to go to this party anyways but Mrs. Wallace invited me and what was I meant to say to her, I hate your son? No thank you. The Wallace family are also our neighbours so if I don't go, I will get caught sitting at home.

I have been so deep in thought that I've lost Kai. Ugh.

"Kai its time to leave," I called him, trying to make nobody notice me searching for him but I fail.

Soon a lady comes up to me and asks, "Hello darling, are you looking for someone because I'm pretty sure I saw someone that looks just like you down that aisle over there,"pointing to the aisle she saw him on.

At times I forget that Kai and I look alike but someone is bound to remind me. It can be very frustrating when Kai does something unruly and everything is reported back to me.

After searching for Kai for what seems like forever I find him, well technically he found me. He had climbed into a massive teddy bear and was now wearing it as a costume. You guessed it, we got kicked out and we had to pay for the bear because Kai had to rip the back to get inside.

Mom wasn't very happy seeing as we were late and had spent over R2 000 on a giant stuffed teddy bear. On the brighter side I get to keep the bear. He stays in a corner in my bedroom; sometimes I use him as a big bean bag, quite comfortable.

At around 5 o'clock I began cleaning myself up for Caleb's welcome back party. I pulled on a powder blue turtleneck sweater and black leggings with pastel yellow vans it was either those or my combat boots but I wanted to be formal. Yes I know my style is a little different. I know what you are thinking, who the heck wears a turtleneck to a party? Me.

I walk downstairs and find Kai, Jodie and Audrey already waiting. Kai is wearing a blue polo shirt and black jeans. Wait-to-go twin telepathy. This isn't the time for me to be sporting identical outfits with my twin. Especially if people start taking photos. No photos it's just weird. When we were younger everyone would chant our names Leilani-Kaiden-Leilani-Kaiden. It got old, along with people calling us by our full names, now we are just Lani and Kai.

Jodie is prancing around in a purple dress and silver sandals. Audrey is looking fashionable in high waisted flowy black pants and a velvet red tank top. I could never pull of anything Audrey wears but I smile as I see Jodie flouncing about the room in her purple dress I used to be her, carefree and excited.

My thoughts are put on pause as Mom and Dad walk down the stairs wearing complimentary outfits. Mom in a pale green jumpsuit with black stilettos and Dad in a white dress shirt and chinos with his Le coq Sportif  sneakers.

Mom quickly grabs the Chakalaka and we all walk out the door. I run back in to take my book A Fault in our Stars. I'm fine once I have it — it's a really good book. We walk our way over next door and after a few seconds of ringing the bell Mrs. Wallace welcomed us to her home and individually complimented us on our outfits.

I was laying on a beach chair by the pool reading my book but I couldn't concentrate because every time someone jumped into the pool or squealed I looked up, which distracted me. Not as if I could save anyone if they were drowning.

"Hello? Anyone there?" A familiar voice asked me. I move my book out the way to see Caleb standing in front of my with a smirk playing on his lips. Great, the one person I was looking for. Not.

"Yes what is it Caleb?" I sighed.

"Now that's not how you greet your favorite person in the world now is it?"

"Don't compliment yourself and go away."

"Whatever. What book is that," he said snatching the book out of my hand, "Ugh, The Fault in our Stars, bor-ing,"he said in a bored tone.

"Just leave me alone with my book Caleb!"

"Just leave me alone with my book Caleb!" He repeated in a high pitched mocking voice, "I will. Just tell me I'm the greatest person ever."

"Ugh don't be stupid and give me my book."

He stood there with a defiant look on his face then took two slow steps towards the pool and dangled my book in his hands. "You want this back then you have to say it"

"I'm sorry Caleb. You are the greatest person ever," I muttered.

"What was that? I didn't hear anything," he said in an obnoxious tone.

"You are the greatest person ever. There I said it. Can I have my book back, please?"

"Aww well done, I knew you could do it Buttercup. I think you could do without it." With that he threw my book into the pool in one movement.

I gasped at a loss of words as I watched my book go down-down-down deeper into the water and imagined how splotchy all the ink would be once I retrieved it. Ohhh I knew I should've worn those combat boots, he's gonna get it now.

I quickly regained my speech and said, "That's the last straw. You know I draw the line when my books come into the picture!" I tried to throw myself at him when I felt two hands withstanding me. I turned to see it was Kai. Caleb sniggered.

I stomped all the way home — only 100 metres — and settled down to bed. I don't enjoy sleeping unhappy or frustrated.

Hoiii. This is my first official book other than Never Again, which is giving me writers block.

Anyways, what do you think? What do you think about my main character Leilani? (It was either Leilani or Kassandra/Kass idk which is better vote in comments) What about Caleb?— he's such a douche. Nobody hurts my books or I'll hurt them *laughs rubs hands together maniacally*

I've got a lot planned but let me know any mistakes I make whilst writing the book. Let me I'm also free to ideas so let me know in the comments. I'm serious tell me EVERYTHING.

Which book title you like better Bibliophile or I'm just Bookish ?
