"Laxus! I think we need to try and loose them!" Freed yells, dodging a bandits sword as it flew through the air. Cutting a few strands of his hair off along the way. Laxus looks back at the bandits before looking back at Freed.
"Right, any ideas?" Laxus questions, his gaze returning back in front of him, taking a huge side step to doge a tree trunk.
"...The cliff!"
"The cliff? Freed! Are you crazy?" Laxus demands, the fear of loosing Freed driving him insane. Breaking his though facade.
"It's our only hope! There's too many for us to take out while trying to protect each other" Freed explains, looking back seeing the herd of bandits chasing them.
"Well, jumping off a cliff doesn't even our chances" Laxus huffs, his nerves increasing with every step he took.
"Laxus! Trust me" Freed begs, knowing that it truly is their last hope. Laxus sighs, knowing there's not much more he can do. Freed's his teammate. His crush even. He knew that Freed wouldn't resort to something like this if it wasn't serious.
"Fine. Freed...I trust you" Laxus gives in with a sigh, shaking his head to clear out any negative thoughts that were trying to surface. Fight their way to his brain.
Freed smiles slightly, happy with the response. Quickly taking the lead.
"There's a river. Just bellow it. I think you know the idea. If they jump down with us...wait until we're both out and electrocute them using the water to your advantage" Freed explains his plan, using a rune to place a simple barrier. Giving them time for the jump. Laxus takes a deep breath, simply replying with a nod. He won't loose Freed. He just needs to trust him.
Trust.
Something Laxus rarely has. But with Freed...it's a completely different story. He has a natural trust in Freed. And he knows that he won't let him down. Yet, he still becomes paranoid every time something dangers comes up in a mission. The thought of loosing Freed haunts his brain. However this time it was just the two of them. The blame would truly be on him if Freed didn't come back safely and he wasn't the going to let that happen.
Laxus is brought out of his thoughts but the cracking of the barrier.
"Laxus! We need to jump now!" Freed yells in panic.
"Right!"
On that note, the two jump off the cliff as the barrier breaks. The men yells stopping at the sight of the two mages falling off. Presumingly their deaths, one laughs causing Laxus to clench his fists before he came in contact with the water. The cold water making him snap out of his thoughts almost immediately. Climbing out to see Freed smiling at him. They were both safe.
"Any injuries?" Laxus questions getting out of the lake and holding his hand out for Freed to take. Freed takes his hand, but he couldn't help but marvel at Laxus's strength as he pulled him out. Laxus chuckles lightly at Freed's shocked expression before he regained his posture.
"No, you?"
"Nah, and there too cowardly to jump so I think it's safe to guess we're safe" Laxus smirks slightly seeing how aggravated the bandits got.
"See? I told you. You can trust me" Freed states turning to Laxus who seemed lost in thought.
"I'd trust you anytime Freed. Really, I would. I always have."
That simple sentence causing Freed to feel giddy inside. Although. On the outside was a small smile, one Laxus has come to love.
