Prologue

"Stop! Now, stop!" I screamed, attempting feebly at pushing him off me. His brown hair slightly tickled my face as he fell down to lay beside me, both of us in fits of giggles, eyes squinted and grins wide.

"Can you remember the time we first met?" He still looked to the sky, clouds gently floating on the slight breeze, sun warmly tickling skin through the leaves.

I did remember when we met, like it was only a few minutes ago. I remember smoothing down my hair and brand new school uniform before walking into my new year 2 class. Some of my bronze waves fell neatly down my back, the few around my face pinned back behind my ears and my bright green eyes scanned across my new classmates' faces, drinking them in. A nervous smile crossed my lips upon seeing the few people with bored expressions in amongst the children with wide eyes taking me in as I did them.

A boy with messy brown hair and glittering blue eyes stood next to the teacher looking at me as if I was a long lost friend, not a new girl. We had been told to sit next to each other and I immediately questioned it; I wanted to make friends that were girls, not boys! I was 7!

"So where do you live?" The boy turned to me, his eyes looking me over before landing on mine.

"Why would I tell you? You're a boy!" I gave him a confused look, pouting slightly while crossing my arms.

"Because! Miss said that I should be friends with you because I live near you! That's why I'm your buddy." The grin that plastered his face got impossibly wide, which made me giggle a bit. I gave him the street name and his eyes widened

"Oh my god, that's a few doors down!" His mouth was in a perfect 'o' and he seemed to jump around a bit, making me smile again. "Friends?"

"Yes!"

I, Ariah Elisabeth Murray, met my best friend that day.

And my best friend, just so happens to be Louis William Tomlinson.
