Chapter 3
2 hours. And to think, Lou has known me how long? He knew he was in for it though; with the speed of which he fled the room when the words sunk in, he knew I was after him.
I ignored Louis run for it and made a b-line for the shower, turning the heat on high. Locking the door In jumped in and washed my hair at the speed of light, the heat of the water grazing my skin as the heater still worked to get it to the right temperature.
Jumping out, I realized finding what to wear would be a struggle; not too smart not to casual? Did Lou expect me to mind read? Smart could mean blazer and trousers with shirt and casual is jeans and tee. I quickly slipped on joggers and a singlet and started to hunt in my drawers full of clothes I kept at Lou's for anything close to what he had described. Clothes flew everywhere landing on the floor, bed and at my feet, nothing in the chaos drifting to the forefront of my mind for the perfect thing to wear.
"LOUIS!" Within a split second he stood at my door, adored in trackies, a loose tee and a grey beanie, "what do I wear?" I pouted, his face breaking into a grin with the hope I'm past him giving me next to no time to be ready for a day working with professional workers in the press and music industry. At first day of work is daunting enough let alone in a serious environment.
"Like I said Ariah, smart but casual. It's only with us boys and some management." He cast off like no big deal, shrugging his shoulders. I shot him a glare, turning back to my now empty wardrobe.
Lou huffed at the door and started to sift through the clothes, pulling out random items until finally making a choice.
"This one." coming round to face me, he placed my pair of dark high waisted shorts, pale sleeveless blouse with snake skin and my cropped blazer. "Smart, casual. Oh and don't wear heels either, trust me. Whenever El came and just watched her heels used to hurt her."
Lou gave me a smile and turned to leave, closing the door behind him for me to change. He had broken up with Eleanor about a month ago now. It wasn't a dramatic breakup, they just grew apart slowly. It was what the press had made it out to be that made it worse. When I started hanging out with Lou more after, they made out I replaced her. I was very nearly banned from seeing Lou by management from the speculation it caused. We still spoke to her though; we would be attending the same college together.
Throwing on the clothes I was given, I pounced on my overnight bag, hunting for my makeup. Taking out my things I applied mascara, liner, concealer and some gloss. Now the hair.
With skilled hands I brushed, prepped and blow dried my auburn waves, blaring music in my headphones all the while. Brushing it through one last time, I tied it up in a simple pony tail, my curls just touching the base of my neck. Before going to breakfast I gave myself a once over; the outfit Lou chose was perfect, smart with the blazer and blouse but still casual with the shorts and flats I planned on wearing. My makeup was natural and cute. Just the thing I wanted.

My feet hit the pavement of the car park and I stared up at the studio. People milled around busy with lights and cameras and a full range of phones in their hands. Lou was already making his way towards the entrance of a large plot of buildings, me jogging to keep up behind him. I clasped my games together, the nerves finally becoming real. Louis shook his head, a low chuckle flowing from his parted lips, and took one of my hands, giving it a light squeeze. My nerves still shook me and a deep sigh left my lips.
We got to a window where a large man sat with a coffee and a muffin on his desk. Lou cleared his throat and the man's grey eyes met my friends with a smile.
"Louis, another shoot today then?" He held out his hand for a pass that he readily gave him.
"Just doing my job Rob." Lou smiled, the man, Rob, then turning to me with a questioning look.
"Wow Lou, looks like you've got a good one again. What's your name love, I'll print you a pass."
"Oh nope, Ariah is just a friend." He chuckled and a small hint of pink flamed on his cheeks.
"Ah Ariah. Murray I'm guessing? Budding photographer? Good luck in your new job love."
"Thank you!" I nodded, my own smile forming on my lips. Rob gave me my pass with a grin and opened the gate to the studios. "You're popular." I smirked at Lou with a wink.
"Well what would you expect? Sometimes I think you forget who your best friend is." Lou gave me a wide smirk, pulling his arm over my shoulders loosely.
We felt another pair of arms wrap around us, and then another, and another and another until we were in the middle of a huge near hug.
"Hello boys." As they let go we turned to face Liam, Zany, Niall and Harry, the biggest grins on their faces. Haz's chocolate hair fell just above his green eyes and his dimpled grin was wide. Liam's smile was warm as his brown eyes and he brought me in for what would be the first of many hugs. Niall came up, his eyes full of menace and ruffled my hair loose from its bunch, I retailing and ruffling his. Zayn gave me a goofy smile and a boyish handshake. Good I missed these boys.
After a bit of catching up we all headed for the building we would be working in, my calmed nerves from earlier returning full force. And let's just say I'm not amazing at keeping control of them...
Right now every 5 seconds my hand pushed my hair that framed my face behind my ears.
"Don't worry, about it," Harry attempted at calming me, placing a hand at the small of my back, "you're amazing with your photography, management already loves you-"
"Ariah, so nice to finally meet you." A middle-aged woman in jeans and a jumper came and shook my hand, "I'm Karen from Syco. Today we're just gonna get the boys to do some natural shots, just mucking around and being them. So you just have to get some good shots."
I let out a breath of relief. Sounds simple enough.

You'd think by now with knowing the five of them for so long I'd know by now.
Yeah, key word "think"
It was crazy. One minute they would be sitting talking like normal boys, the next they would be rolling around on the floor. When you think they were just taking and laughing they would then pull some sort of prank.
Basically, typical them.
Half way through the day the boys and I were given a costume change. Confusion flooded my thoughts but I took the clothes and changed in one of the spare rooms. The warm thermals, jeans and jumpers felt weird in the summer heat. Sighing I swapped the thermal for my blouse, the cardigan and jeans matching well.
I walked out to find the boys in woolly jumpers and Chinos talking to Karen, who was holding a clipboard that seemed giant against her small frame. She had an air of authority that made me move to stand next to the boys to listen to her.
"-so we will be going to the location, it will be a kind of campfire, and we will get Ariah and the team to get some shots, all good?"
We all nodded but I was still confused, "Why am I in costume then if I'll be behind the camera?" I spoke up, quickly shrinking away as she turned to look at me.
"You won't be the only one getting pictures, since you're a good friend of the boys we think we can get some good natural shots. Basically while you are taking your own pictures we will be taking ones as well." Karen smiled as if it was simple, but that familiar roll in the pit of my stomach made an apperance. I nodded in understanding and started to slowly move away in the same direction as the boys, towards the van.
I took a seat next to Liam at the window, leaning against the cool glass. this day was becoming more mental as it went on and my instints told me that it was only going in the direction of increasing. I smiled to myself; I was the photographer at my friends shoot, they are One Direction, and I'm also a "model" in said shoot.
My life is crazy.
