"Get a shower, you stink."

"You are in my apartment and you think you can insult me?" René jumped on top of me, his legs on either side of my waist as he bent forward while pushing his armpits into my face. He had just returned from the gym, while I spent my time in this building complex watching some television shows. I had debated to come along but changed my mind rather quickly, gym was not a place you would find me often. Looking at him twice, I saw sweat dripping from his face, which made him assume it was funny to rub his face against mine.

"René, you're so disgusting." I yelled, trying to push him off. Wiggling my feet underneath his torso, I used them to get him off of me, his abdominal muscles contracted underneath when I did so. "You know what reeks? Your damn feet." I laughed over his reaction knowing he always held some sort of hatred towards that body part, I too found feet rather unappealing as well. "Shower with me?" I frowned as I looked up at him, it had to be the second time in the span of two weeks he came to me with that offer. Though I had laughed it off before I don't think he was joking this time around.

"No?"

"That's too bad." He pinched my cheeks before he got up from the couch and disappeared from my sight. I was left alone with nothing to occupy myself with, my mind drifting off to last week.

I hadn't quite come across a man like Maximus, which made it upmost impossible to rid hid from my mind. We had only met a handful of times, sure. Even the shared conversations lasted no longer than ten minutes but yet he left behind this impression that had you seeking for more of him, more of his charming personality and attentive nature. The small talk we had shared at the café hadn't lasted long either, seeing as he was almost running late for a meeting.

I remembered how he had hesitated when he asked for my number which he immediately added into his phone, assuring me he would text me soon. He definitely kept true to that promise seeing as it was only until moments after he left for his assembly a message reading Hi with a smiley face, popped up. A few texts were sent back and forth but I had yet to hear from him since. It left me distracted from everything as I checked my phone every chance I received, awaiting a text from him. It was when I realised I seemed to be acting similar to a sixteen year old schoolgirl with a crush that I toned it down a notch.

The whole week had I wondered over why he hadn't tried to reach out to me yet, which he said he would. I had contemplated contacting Maximus myself a couple of times but my cowardliness had made me draw back. My thumbs hovered over the keys and formed a message, but send was never hit. However sitting here I felt courageous which I was aware sounded slightly pathetic. I shouldn't have to feel that way, a woman can as well take the first step without it seeming weird. It was not that big of a deal, I told myself a number of times to convince myself which really, it wasn't. Grabbing for my phone, it began to ring in my hand. The idea of my father calling me again made me roll my eyes, though my heart rate had picked up tremendously at the sight of his name.

"Amelia?" His raspy voice breathed through the phone. I was really thrown of guard by the sound of his voice and it felt as if I heard it for the very first time. It sounded raspier than I remembered, despite it being only a couple of days which let me to think of how it would resonate in the morning after he had just woken up. That image left me distracted while I replayed in my mind the sound of my name rolling from his tongue. I hum into the phone making myself acknowledgeable to the other end of the line. I was probably embarrassing myself by this point.

"Hmm Amelia, you alright sweetheart? I'm sorry if I were to bother you so suddenly with my call. I can contact you la—"

"No Max, you're not interrupting me at all. Hey." He chuckled into the phone, which had me smiling into midair at noone in particular.
