My Boss

Chapter 2

'I don't want nobody else but you. I don't want nobody else but you oh ah' my phone rang loudly, causing me to wake up. Who could be disturbing me on a Saturday morning? Can't a girl have her beauty sleep without being disturbed?

"CASSY!!!!!" the person at the other end screeched when I answered the phone. I'm sure my eardrums were going to get burst.

"Who is this please?" I asked innocently even though I knew who it was.

"Cassy, you don't know who this is?" the person asked sadly

"Oh Mia, you are so dramatic" I said, earning a laugh from her

"Oh Cassy you know I've missed you"

"I've missed you too Mia"

"I heard you got a new job" she said

"Yes I started work on Monday b- wait how did you know?" I asked curiously

"Let's just say I have my own means" I could picture her smirking

"Oh and can you explain what you mean by 'you have your own means'?"
I asked, putting emphasis on 'own means'.

"Fine I'll tell you. I called Granny and she told me. Are you happy now?"
I rolled my eyes even though she couldn't see me.

Mia is my best friend. She's like a sister to me. We've been best friends since high school. I moved here when I was about 15 years old and I didn't have any friends. I honestly didn't want to make any friends. I liked to keep to myself and not talk to anyone. Mia was so stubborn, she always dragged me to lunch, said hi to me in the hallways loudly enough for everyone to hear and she even came to house on Saturdays. She was one of the popular girls in school and she still befriended me. Sometimes, I wonder why she befriended me.

"Cassy can I come over today?" she asked

"Yes you can. I don't have any plans for today."

"Good then because I'm my way"

"What! you are already on your way here?" I exclaimed

"Just kidding, I'm now leaving home"she laughed

"Ok I will be waiting" I said and hanged up.

Mia was chatting with Granny when I entered the kitchen.

"Mia I didn't know you were here already" I said and hugged her.

"Granny opened the door for me and served me with her wonderful cookies" she grinned

"Are the cookies finished?" I asked

"Why will I bake cookies and forget to reserve some for my beautiful Cassy." granny said and I smiled.
She brought out a plate of cookies and I ate them in one go. Granny's cookies are the best.
"Cassy are you ready?" Mia asked

"Ready for what?"

"Oh I forgot to tell you. There's a new restaurant down the road and I bet you, their chicken is good. Let's go try it out"

"Ok, let me get changed" I said and I went upstairs to change my clothes. I put on a pair of blue jeans and a purple shirt and I went downstairs to Mia.

"Granny we are leaving" I said to granny

"come back early"

"Ok bye" and we left.

The smell of fried chicken greeted us as we entered the restaurant.

"Mia can you smell that?" I squealed as we found a table by the window and sat down.

"Smell what?"

"The chicken!!"

"No I think I smell rabbits" I rolled my eyes and was about to retort when the waiter appeared.

"What can I get you, ladies?"

"We would like french fries and chicken and a bottle of coke, please"
Mia told him with a smile.

"Sure" he said and walked away.

"That waiter is hot" Mia whispered and winked.
So typical of Mia. For her, it's so normal to check guys out but I, on the other hand, feel shy to even look at the face of a guy. After my break up with Greg in high school, I don't find any interest in talking to guys.I already have trust issues and Greg betrayed my trust. I feel like if I allow people into my life, they will betray me one day. Even Mia suffered before she gained my trust but I just trusted Greg and he cheated on me.

"Cassy I asked you a question."

"Sorry I just zoned out a little" I replied honestly and just then, waiter brought our meal.

"All these junk food!" Mia exclaimed after the waiter left.

"You ordered it yourself"

"Mickey told us to stop eating junk food"

"Who is Mickey?"

"He is the supervisor for the modelling agency. He said we are putting on too much weight"

"And you still ordered junk food?"

"Eating it once won't kill right?"

"Yeah" I admitted and we started to eat. Mmm! This chicken tastes good.Thanks for bringing me here Mia.

"So how is your new job?" she asked

"It's pretty cool but my boss is very strict and cold. I've never seen him smile"

"Is that so?"

"Yes"

"That's exactly how he was described.I heard that he is so hot but doesn't have a girlfriend."

"Mia how did you know?"

"Martins company is a well known company around here and Mr Martins is also famous around here. I also heard that he has a sick mother and a brother."

"Yes I've met his brother but are sure that the rest are not just rumors?"

"I think they are true"

"Really"

"Yes"

"Since he doesn't have a girlfriend, I think you should make a move" Mia suddenly said and I nearly choked on my coke.

"What?! Mia no. I can't do that, he is my boss"

"Ok fine"
And I just sat there, thinking about what she said.
