❝But no one would listen❞

"I'm gonna need to see some ID." Said the cashier.

"Oh sure!" I faked a smile and pretended to look for it in my bag, already knowing it wouldn't be there. "I can't believe it! I think I left it at home... I know I look young, but..." I didn't even finish the sentence, I could try, but no one would listen.

"I'm sorry, I cannot sell you that bottle without seeing actual documentation."

I paid for the rest of the groceries and left the market feeling miserable. I should buy something else for mom's gift... She would have liked that wine so much, though.

"Excuse me"

I turned my head half expecting it to be someone saying I just dropped something, since it always happened. I'm always dropping things... forgetting things.

"I think you left this behind."

Some dude was handing me the wine bottle. He was a lot taller than me, with a lean but athletic built. Tanned skin, very dark hair and almond eyes. I couldn't stop the unwanted thought of "that's one good looking dude" from sneaking into my head and making itself comfortable. Before I knew it, I was staring.

"I..." I didn't actually know how to respond. I slowly took the bottle from his hand, he was smiling sweetly. "Thank you- Oh! How much was it again?"

I started to open my purse, but he stopped me.

"No, please, it was a gift."

"That is very sweet, and I am truly grateful, but I can't just accept this... I know it was on sale and the price is okayish, but it is, still, an expensive thing to buy a total stranger" I smiled, incredibly uncomfortable. Again, the thought of how appealing his looks were came to mind.

Ok, fine, he was gorgeous. There, I said it.

"What if you pay me back on a date?"

Well, that was fast. He just came out and asked it. I considered it for a moment. He seemed cute... Oh, what the hell.

"Okay" I put the bottle inside one of my bags. "Do you have somewhere in mind?"

"I was going to ask you where would you like to go."

"I don't actually live here, so, I have no idea."

"I guess I could choose then" He shrugged. "Meet me at the Theatre, next to the train station and I'll take you somewhere nice."

"Somewhere public." I warned.

"Yes, very public." He laughed. "How does tomorrow sound like?"

"I can get here at 8 pm if I don't miss the train." I shrugged.

"It's a date."
