Finally! I don't think I could handle another minute of this sappy crap.

'I love you! But I cannot be with you because I'm a vampire!'

That vampire is playing her. Hard.

Four months of surveillance and I was ready to knock their heads together.

Let me explain, my name is Ebony. I hunt down criminals of the other world. Vampires, werewolves, sirens, demons, witches, warlocks, the occasional fairy, you get the picture. Right now I'm stalking a vampire named Javoc, but she knows him as Jay the beautiful gentleman who loved her enough he would leave her, yeah makes perfect sense.

Anyway it was finally time, he was planning on stealing her soul.

I guess I should take another minute to explain the theft of a persons soul. To the untrained eye soul theft looks like transformation to vampirism. However soul theft doesn't resurrect you. You stay dead. When any other-worldly creature steals your soul it's to build their own power. She ( the brainless one) must have some power for him to risk soul sucking. A criminal wanted by the M.L.E. Does not engage in surface behavior unless you're dumb or have something really important that is worth risking your life.

Picking up my cell I called my boss. "Go." He barked.

"The bonehead just agreed to have her soul stolen." I informed in a mock serious tone.

"Wait to grab while the ritual is in progress. I don't want another walk like Levoken's trial."

Yes, sir." I hung up.

I had been at Levoken's trial, I was the arresting officers. We had been on stake-out when we heard screaming inside. I don't know about you but when you've been on stake-out for months and you're stalking a very mean vampire who gets his kicks out of raping and killing anything lower then him on the food chain which in his case is, is everything except for deities, and you hear screaming you run in silver bullets blazing. Unfortunately all we got was demon and a girl in the same room. He had a good lawyer and myself and another officer were werewolves, which don't have the best of reputations. The whole uncontrollable blood lust every full moon thing.

Sighing at the whole mess I started my car, and my sigh of frustration turned to that of pleasure. There is something enjoyable about a Mustang. Mine was the latest model, it took a freakishly long time to save for it. Focus Ebony. Vampire, soul theft. No time for yummy cars.

I watched as his Prius pulled out of their school parking lot. Checking my watch I pulled out behind them. This was odd. He wasn't going where he told her they would be going.

I pulled out my cell and this time dialed James.

"'sup, Eb?"

"He's going to a different location."

"Can you tell me where?"

"No. I'll call you when I know."

"That's a lie and we both know it."

"Fine. I'll called you after the bust."

"Ebony wai-" I hung up on him.

I slowed a bit as the Prius turned off on an abandoned road. Zooming out on my GPS to see if this was a trick, I confirmed that it wasn't and pulled over on the side of the road. I followed on foot. It was a thickly wooded area and I stuck to the trees as I glided along. The good thing about being a werewolf among other things is the stealth. I had my field bag slung over my shoulder. The problem with magical creatures is they tend to avoid people as much as possible so witnesses are almost always a unreliable source for evidence. I slowed as I saw the bright blue Prius. Shaking my head at the sight of them making out I climbed into a tree.
