CHAPTER 44
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The April sun shone down on my exposed shoulders. It was warm enough to wear a tank top and shorts. It wasn't too hot, but just perfect because of a slight breeze.
I unlocked the door to my dorm and threw my bag on the couch. Katie was probably at her boyfriend's dorm. I started up the oven to throw a frozen pizza in. I don't feel like making a big fancy dinner, but I also don't feel like going out to get something.
While the pizza cooked, I decided to call Luke. We still call each other everyday, except this past week we've only talked once and that's because I called him. I'm lucky if I got one text a week from him. I keep telling myself it's because he's busy. I miss him like crazy.
It rang and rang and eventually I got an answer.
"Hello?" I said.
"Hello? Who's this?" She said. It was a girl that's for sure.
"I'm Luke's girlfriend, Kasey. Who are you and why are you answering my boyfriend's phone?" I asked with a bit more attitude than needed.
"Oh, Luke has a girlfriend? I guess I didn't know that. Sorry, I'll tell Luke you called." And she hung up.
What in the hell?! Who was she?! Kasey calm down, don't do anything stupid. Someone was probably just by his phone and answered it for him. But how come she didn't know about me? Maybe she just didn't really know him that well.
I sat down and ate my pizza in frustration.
Soon enough, Katie came through the door. I sighed as she walked over to me.
"Who pissed in your cheerios this morning?" She asked in a snotty tone.
Katie is a beautiful blond, she's tall, and very smart actually. She's majoring in dentistry. Sometimes she has an attitude...actually most of the time.
I didn't give her an answer, I just shoved my pizza in my mouth.
"What's wrong honey?" She asked a little nicer.
"I called Luke's phone and some girl picked up. She said she didn't even know he had a girlfriend." I sighed once again.
"Aw hun. See, this is why I tell you to break up with him. I've never met the guy, but he seems like a real Debbie-downer. You might just be better without him causing all this stress for you. It's not good, you need to keep grades up, keep your job going, and all this other crap." She said.
Once again, an image of me and Luke not being together flashed in my mind. Of course I wasn't happy though. In some way, Katie was right. I'm very stressed out and this sure as hell doesn't help.
"I don't know. I'd be miserable without Luke. And he's not a Debbie-downer, he's an amazing guy." I groaned.
She shook her head.
"Let me see your phone." She said holding out her hand.
"Why?" I asked. This could go very bad.
"Girl, you need to trust someone other than Luke. Like me! Hand it over." She said.
Whatever. She can't do that much harm with it. I handed it to her and saw her type something and hold it up to her ear.
"Hey, who are you calling?" I asked. I knew it was Luke, but I didn't want it to be true.
LUKE'S POINT OF VIEW:
Carter and I getting were ready to set up for another show tonight in a bar. I set my phone down on the corner of the stage and fiddled around with my guitar, tuning it and stuff. All of a sudden I hear some perky voice.
