Kurt blinked his eyes wearily, feeling sore and tired.
He looked around, remembering what had happened and why he was in a hospital bed. Based on how he felt, it had worked.
A doctor walked into his room. "Ah, Mr. Hummel, you're awake. The procedure was a success." He continued to tell Kurt a few more guidelines. Kurt was so happy, he felt like jumping for joy.
They let his father in the room to see him, and Kurt smiled even more upon seeing him. "Hi dad!"
"Hey, Kurt. How are you feeling?"
"A bit sore- well, very sore- and tired, but perfect. I feel absolutely perfect." Kurt's smile was so wide that Burt teared up a little, out of joy for his son.
"I'm glad to hear that. You should probably get some rest, though."
"Yeah, I should." Burt left and Kurt promptly fell asleep.

When it was time for Kurt's return to Dalton, he couldn't be happier. He still had a bit of the weekend left.
He couldn't believe it. No more hugging a pillow to his chest when he sleeps, no more troublesome binders, so more avoiding hugs out of worry...
It was a dream come true.
When Kurt walked into his dorm, all the guys were there. Upon him entering they all stopped talking and greeted him, asking where he was.
Blaine ran up to him and hugged him, before quickly pulling away. "I'm sorry, I know you don't like hugs, I just missed you so much."
Kurt merely grinned and pulled Blaine back into a hug, without a worry in the world. "I missed you too, my love." He murmured in Blaine's ear, causing a pleasant shiver to run down his spine.
Kurt pulled back slightly and kissed his boyfriend, putting all his joy and emotions into the kiss. He completely ignored the others in the room, just feeling his love for Blaine and Blaine's love for him.
Blaine was surprised and, well, rather turned-on by how assertive and confident Kurt was. When they broke apart, Blaine smiled. "I don't know what got into you but goddamn it's sexy."
Instead of blushing like he usually would, Kurt smirked and leaned forwards to whisper in Blaine's ear. "What's gotten into me? Well, hopefully you."
Blaine blushed furiously, and the other boys were shocked at how the roles had reversed.
"Wow, it's like, Klaine flipped in on itself. Blaine's the blushing one and Kurt's the one who makes him blush." Jeff said.
"Hm, not the only thing I plan to make him do." Kurt said quietly, causing Blaine to blush even darker. Kurt walked over to his bed, sitting on it and crossing his legs as if nothing had happened. "Well, what did I miss?"
They were all looking at him in awe. He was so much more confident.
"You know, I reckon Blaine's right. There's something different about you, Kurt." Nick said.
Kurt smiled. "Well, if you must ask, I am feeling much more... myself."
"Wait, you hugged Blaine, does that mean your threat to make me a countertenor if I had people hug you randomly still stands?" Jeff asked.
Kurt pretended to think. "Hmm... maybe not your whole life, that's excessive and painful. Maybe a week."
Jeff snorted. "Yeah, painful, is that just now occurring to you?"
"That was kind of the entire point, Jeff."
"What changed, then?" Nick questioned curiously.
Kurt shrugged. "Well, I don't mind hugging anymore."
"Why? Does it have something with you being gone?" Jeff asked.
"It has everything to do with me being gone, actually." Kurt answered.
The boys were quiet for a moment, trying to figure out what he meant, when Kurt turned to Blaine. "Um, Blaine... I need to talk to you. Privately. That thing I told you that I would tell you eventually..."
The others were surprised at how Kurt went from confident to nervous.
Blaine nodded. "Yeah."
Nick looked around, getting the hint. "We'll just go, it's lunchtime anyway and I'm starving."
Blaine shot him a grateful look while Kurt just looked afraid. The guys left, heading to lunch, and Kurt started pacing the room.
"Alright. This is really hard to say, and might completely ruin our chances together, but I have to be honest." Kurt started. "Um, well, I when I was gone... I can't do this." Kurt threw his hands up in the air in defeat.
"Hey, Kurt, come here. You can wait if you need to, just know that nothing can change my opinion of you except for the better." Blaine said soothingly.
Kurt sighed, walking over to Blaine and hugging him. "I need to tell you though. I want to, it's important."
"I won't judge you." Blaine reassured.
Kurt took in a deep breath. "Here goes nothing, then. When I was gone, I was getting surgery. Have you ever wondered why my middle name is Elizabeth, a girl's name? It's because it's not actually my middle name. Kurt's my middle name. Elizabeth's my first. I go by Kurt because it works as a guy's name. Blaine..." Kurt paused, nervous, but pressed onwards. "I'm transgender."
Blaine's reaction completely surprised Kurt. He hugged him tighter and gave him a quick kiss. "Well, Kurt, as I said. Anything you tell me will only change my opinion of you for the better. You're so strong to go through with this, and I'm so glad that you felt comfortable enough to tell me. I love you, Kurt. I'll always love you."
Tears streamed down Kurt's face, but they were tears of joy. "Thank you. You don't know how much I've wanted to hear that. I love you too, Blaine. Forever and always."
