When Kurt left so suddenly, it surprised the others.

"What did we do?" Thad asked, confused.

"Oh, I don't know, maybe it's because you compared a teenage guy who's really insecure about how high his voice is to a teenage girl." Blaine snapped angrily, leaving the room to find Kurt.

When he found him, there were tear tracks on his face. Blaine immediately wrapped his arms around the boy, who was hugging his knees to his chest and therefor didn't mind.

"I'm so sorry, Kurt, I know they don't mean to hurt you. They don't know how sensitive you are about your voice." Blaine said quietly.

Kurt felt like laughing. Yeah, just his voice, totally. "Thank you, Blaine. You know why I transferred here, it's just... calling me 'lady' because of my voice or comparing me to girls in general is something the jocks who tormented me used to do. It brings back bad memories." This technically wasn't a lie, he was telling the truth, it was just irrelevant compared to the real reason he's upset.

Blaine gasped softly. "Kurt, I'm sorry, I had no idea. I love your voice, it's beautiful."

Just hearing someone call him by his chosen name cheered the Kurt up marginally. "Thank you, Blaine." Blaine stood up, holding out a hand to Kurt.

Kurt took up, letting Blaine help pull him up. They brushed off their blazers, intertwining their hands and walking back to the others.

A few days later, Kurt was absolutely full of nervous energy. Throughout all his classes, he was tapping his foot under the desk or his fingers on the tabletop. Today was the day. The day, the appointment, that would change his life.

At lunch, he was bouncing his knee under the table.

"Kurt, what's up with you? You're full of all this nervous energy today." Blaine asked.

Kurt smiled absentmindedly. "Oh, I'm leaving early today, and I'm really excited and nervous."

"But it's the middle of the week." Jeff pointed out.

"Yeah, I'll be gone for a bit. I'll come back on Monday, though, or this weekend." Kurt said nonchalantly.

Blaine was shocked. "What? Kurt, you can't leave."

Kurt gave Blaine an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, this is extremely important. I can't wait until a break or something to do it."

Just then, the PA system chimed. "Can I have Kurt Hummel to my office please?"

Kurt jumped up, quickly heading to the office.

He opened the door, seeing his dad standing and the Headmaster seated behind his desk.

"Alright, ready to go?" Burt asked.

Kurt nodded his head, grinning. "I'm so ready."

His father drove Kurt to the Lima hospital, whom they had been working with. Kurt was extremely nervous but inexplicably happy, which isn't a common mix of emotions when people are getting surgery.

This was different, though. At least, for him it is.
