Izuku Midoriya was still in his hospital bed. Quickly running through the college grade trigonometry that was relinquished to him. Throughout that time, he'd gotten acquainted to the artificial intelligence implanted in his brain, better known as Plexus. The name expeditiously shot into his head as a dictionary definition.
"An intricate network or weblike formation," Izuku halted to flip his math page over.
"quite the clever name." He said thoughtfully, admiring the beauty of the intelligence within him. As he proceeded to solve the problems, he simultaneously ate the food Plexus had suggested, and read the third book in the Harry Potter series, which he'd started an hour ago, and was near finished with. His hands snapped back and forth, multitasking like a agile snake, making no incorrect or time-taking moves.
Pondering what he could possibly accomplish other than the three things he was working on, he remembered that he was completely and utterly blind beyond maintenance.
"Plexus? How am I reading this stuff? Is it you?" Plexus took a second to process the question introspectively, then shot back a reply.
"Yes, i'm taking pictures of your surroundings, and sending the information to you. So it may seem like you can see, but it's just millions of pictures placed together."
"Can you do this constantly as to allow me to navigate successfully?"
"No. I'm sorry. It takes a lot of power and storage. I can't use it other than to help you write. If I keep this up for too long then I'll shut down, and you'll have to charge me."
"Charge you? What could you possibly be implying?"
"I have a battery life of thirty-six hours. After that, you must charge me by adding the charging cables to the exposed ports placed behind your ears." Izuku reached to the back of his ears, and felt small metal disks dug in his skin. They were smooth but bumpy at the same time, and gave off a warm exhaust.
"Charging cables? Like a phone charger?" He heard the robot seemingly snickering. Can robots laugh?
"No, it's not that simple. The charger is attached to a military grade generator, which was made recently and to the most efficient it could be. Charging me while you sleep is most recommended, as I will be fully charged when you wake up."
"You charge that fast?"
"Yes, but you have to charge me every night if you'd like to use me. I will do my best to remind you." Izuku nodded in reply and continued his routine, but stopped five minutes late when he felt an incessant burning coming from the charger ports. Izuku shut his book swiftly and set down his pencil.
"You can stop now Plexus, you're overheating. It's beginning to hurt." He said curtly as he shoved his barely eaten food away.
"You need to eat Izuku Midoriya." Izuku waved into the air, as if dismissing Plexus like he was a phantom of a human.
"Call me Izuku, please refrain from calling me by my full name, it takes up time and energy I don't have the will to spend at the moment." He said with a monotone in his voice, rubbing his burning temples.
He began to ponder what his peers were doing at the moment. Who'd turned out on top at the sports festival? How was his acquaintance,
Todoroki, feeling about the whole situation he'd caused. Do I resent him for this? Do I despise him for the pain he has caused me? He thought. Replying to himself with the thankfulness for new knowledge, though the price was heavy, it was also sensible, for what he got in return was unmatched intelligence and a new best friend that only he could conversate with. He was more than special now that he had not only the strength of One for All, but the mind of an implant connected directly to a web of answers.
