Moving

So I heard it's final and your family's settling down in a city I can't reach without a plane. It seems your going too far from where I could hope to follow you. Of course I'll miss you and I'll think of you too. But if this is the last time I can see you then I need you to know

What your taking will be my greatest loss,

It's always you I'm accusom to leaning on,

Everybody moves and everyone takes off,

But you were the one I thought was holding on,

I guess the truth is

                                      no one stays for long.

You loved me when I'm not open. You never leave me when I feel broken. Still there's a wall I would shut like a forcefield; My daddy taught me how to box and build. When you leave I'll be wishing we'd be more than friends. The state you're off to surpasses what I can transcend, so all I can do is watch you ascend.

What your packing up is my memory,

It's something you can look back on,

Anything I could do to keep you from taking off,

But we're sailors in the midst of stubborn storms,

The wind is harsh and

                                             the rain never falls soft.

They took you from me then replaced you with a no one, and now no one knows who you were. They took you from me in the night like a light strangled by shadows and dust. They replaced my lab partner with a freak who likes to stare. They might replace me next but I don't care.

Like my dad I did the math wrong,

I think it may be me why

                                                   no one stays for long.
