Bella POV: Great, it's that time of the month again. Every other month, I grow a penis for three whole months, and I'm not as self-conscious about it as I was thousands of years ago, and then when Rose and I first started dating. Or at least I wasn't, with Rosalie's revelation of not being over being unable to conceive it has me worried and a little scared. I don't want her to feel down about herself over something that is out of her control, I love her, and I NEED her to see that. I gave up having kids LONG AGO, but she hasn't, and now she believes she's holding me back. When, in truth, without her, I'd be a monster, one she couldn't stand to look at, and that would ruin me.
I attempt to go to sleep, but I just can't. My brain won't shut off, and it's making my head ache. I am in the basement with Rose helping her fix the cars, holding up the car while she fiddles with the engine and tires, and whatever else she says can do better. "-ella," I hear her call, and I shake my head. "You can put the car down, sweetheart," she smiles at me.
"Sorry," I apologize.
"No need, love," Rose walks around the car, stopping in front of me and putting her arms around my neck when I fully stand up, and mine automatically go to her waist. "It's going to be okay, Bella," she tells me, knowing what I am stressing about. "I'll be right here the entire time, as I have been for the past 102 years. I love you. Now, come on, we have school in an hour, and we are filthy."
"Yes ma'am, my little grease monkey,"
"Pfft," she breathes out. "Let's go, giant." she grabs my arm and drags me out of the garage.
"Giant," I huff, mock offended, and she laughs and my heart lifts, and I sling my arm around her from behind, and bring her to me, and nuzzle and kiss her neck and Rose whimpers and I melt.
At School
"We need to talk," Bree says as she marches up to. She is projecting being nonchalant and strong but I can see it in how her jaw ticks, and her eyes won't meet mine for more than three seconds before she looks away, and how her hands fidget.
"About what?" I calmly ask her. She quickly looks at Rosalie, then back at me, her heart rate increases, and I don't know who she's more scared of. She takes a deep breath, and I see it get stuck in her throat and her eyes water. Finally, it goes down with an audible gulp. Bree takes a reluctant step towards me and whispers something that shocks me.
"Our family."
I grab her arm tightly, but not enough to bruise and drag her across campus underneath the stairs.
"What the hell are you talking about?" I quietly growl at her.
"Bella," Rosalie says. She grabs my arm and pulls me back from the petrified human. "Calm the hell down," my wife tells me, "and back away, you're scaring her." Rose then turns to the girl. "What do you mean?" She gently asks Bree, surprising me with her tone.
Bree looks back and forth between my wife and I, and my wife nods, encouraging her to speak. I stand unmoving, barely breathing. "My family, ancestors, come from Italy, and apparently, we were once seen as royalty." This isn't news to me. "But that isn't all." She says. breathess. "I've heard stories, legends, like the Quilutes. We change, turn into wolves, and the moon helps us." Bree takes a deep breath. "I. . . when I looked at you. . . you felt familiar. I did some research on-on-on the family. And-And there we were pictures, o-over the years, and I saw you. And I th-thought 'h-hey, doppelgangers are real,' then your face j-ju-just k-kep-kept reappearing. And then I thought,'The family resemblance is strong in this one.'" Wow, she's a nerd. "But, I am not stupid, not when you are here at school. And with all the stories I hear about my family- our family, and I know what you guys are. You don't come to school when the sun is out, you guys never eat, which I understood why, it's school lunch food, but you know what I mean." Bree raises an eyebrow at us, then digs in her backpack. "Three hundred odd years ago, you had sex with a woman, and that woman had kids, triplets, boys, and the middle more boys, and the eldest, Shawn, had me. You are my great, great, great, grandmother."
My breath stops, and finally, after what feels like hours, I let out a chocked, "What?"
"Bree's your family," my wife simply tells me, and I glare at her, and she gives me a dirty look back with crossed arms.
"I got that part," I snap at her. Rosalie opens her mouth, then closes it.
"You don't get many of those," she tells me, then looks at Bree, surprising me again. "Come over for dinner tomorrow after school. We'd love to get to know you."
"Seriously?" The young girl ask.
"Yes," my wife answers her. Rosalie leaves, and I follow her, not sparing a second glance at the 15 year old girl.
"What the hell, Rose? Are you punishing me or something? I thought we made up."
Rose whips around. "How is spending time with your granddaughter a punishment?" She questions me sharply.
"Okay, you are missing a lot of greats. I don't even know her. She is nothing to me."
"She is your blood. You have a legacy out there. If you don't want to get to know them, then I will."
I scoff at her. "Let's go to class. Please," I add, when I see the indignant look on her face. I hold my hand out to her, and to my pleasure, she readily takes it. "Can we at least talk about the girl-Bree-" I correct myself. She smiles up at me, kisses my cheek, and pats my chest. "No," she airily states. I thought so, I think to myself. School goes by quickly, and Bree distances herself from me, and I am grateful for it."So, I have descendants, more specifically Bree," I tell my family while I eat dinner. Esme cheers quietly, Carlisle nods happily, Alice dances with mirth in her eyes, damn pixie, she knows, of course she knew. Emmett whoops in delight and hits my back hard, and Rosalie glares at him and punches his chest, and he coughs unnecessarily, but I feel his pain. Jasper smiles at me, Victoria hugs me tightly, kisses my cheek, winks, and tells me congratulations, and Edward hugs me and ruffles my hair, "Congrats sis," he tells me. "And Rosalie promised to have her over for dinner tomorrow night," I tell the family.
"That's great," Esme says. "What does she like to eat?"
I shrug, "I don't know," I say unapologetically. They all give me a look. "What? Who knows if she's even telling the truth? Maybe she's crazy."
"I doubt that," Rose tells me. "She seemed pretty damn sure. It could be true. You were quite a player back in the day." Rosalie gives me a sly look, and I roll my eyes at her.ROSE
When I get to school, I immediately go search for Bree to Bella's annoyance. I find her in the library reading The Institute by Stephen King. "Hey," I say to her, and she jumps, clearly startled. "Oh, I'm sorry," I quickly apologize. "Are you still coming to my place for dinner after school?" I question her.
"Is Bella alright with me going over to yours?"
"Whatever. Who cares?" I tell my mate's granddaughter. Bree gives me a look that resembles my Bella. "My wife will come around," I tell Bree. "She's just. . . scared. So. . ." I prod
"Yes," Bree nods, I will be there. After School
"Esme, stop fussing," Bella tells our surrogate mother. The doorbell rings, and I grab Bella's elbow, and Esme pushes us towards the door.
"Be nice," she sternly warns us, looking mostly at Bella, and she rolls her eyes.
"Yes, mom," she drones.
"And be good, no rough housing," Esme directs this at Emmett, and Victoria, and Vicky preens while Emmett crosses his arms while he rocks back and forth on the heels of his feet.Esme made grilled chicken, broccoli, macaroni and cheese, and biscuits, and for dessert marble cake. "You didn't need to make all of this," Bree stammers, red-faced.
"That's what I tried to tell her," Bella murmurs, and I elbow her. Bree gives her a questioning look and Esme a reproachful one.
"It was no trouble, honestly sweetie," our mother tells her.
"What did you tell your parents?" I ask her.
She blushes again. "I told them that my friends and I were hanging out. Fantasy comic books, like fantasy football but with comic books."
"Sounds fun," Carlisle says.
"Sounds awesome," Emmett praises. "Who do you have on your team?"
"That's the thing, I don't know if I want DC or Marvel or if I'll do a crossover."
"When you do, let me know."
"Deal."
"Oh my god." I say.
Alice laughs, and Victoria leans back and says, "There are two of them."
Emmett and Bree both laugh.
Some time has passed, and dinner is over, and we're getting ready to talk about the heavy stuff.
"Thank you all for inviting me to dinner." Bree says, and Bella scoffs at the human.
"They did, I didn't. I would be good with us not seeing each other ever again."
"Bella," Esme hisses at my mate.
"Young lady," Carlisle growls, and I have to restrain myself from growling back at our father figure.
"Behave, she is your family. Treat her like it." Esme says.
Bella bows her head and takes a deep breath. "My apologies." After a minute of silence, she tells Bree to talk alone with her, and before they are out of earshot, Victoria half-jokingly says, "Bells isn't gonna kill her, is she" Emmett laughs, Carlisle shakes his head, Esme sighs, Jasper smirks, Alice shakes her head with a smile, and Edward snorts to cover up his laugh, and I give Vick a look while shaking my head. Her and Emmett are made for each other.
