People Like Us (Eleven/Jane)

El was trailing behind with Mike as Eight was way in front. It had been a couple hours after they left Hawkins and now they were getting tired and El couldn't keep up no more.

"Mike!" El called out as she bent over and rested her hands on her knees.

"El! El are you alright?" He asks concerned.

"No! I'm tired. I can't walk no more." El replied with a faint whisper.

"Kali!" Mike called after. Kali turned and stopped.

"What now?" Kali asked.

"El is tired. Could we rest up somewhere and get back to this tomorrow. Just look at her." Kali looked over to her sister who looked tired and weak.

"Fine. I'll find shelter." Kali replied.

"How?" Mike asked looking around. They were in the middle of nowhere. And El had given up walking more.

"We find shelter." Kali walked over and sat underneath a bus stop shelter. El walked over with Mike. Mike sat and El sat beside Mike.

"Rest your head on me." Mike told El. El did exactly what Mike told her and rested her head on his shoulder. Soon enough El was asleep. Kali helped El get comfortable and laid her down on Mike's lap. Her head laid on his legs and her body on the floor but hoovering.

"Kali?" Mike called to get her attention.

"Yes!" She replied.

"What happened? In the lab. El won't tell me as it makes her cry." Mike asked curiously. With Kali being another test subject he would find out what El was going through.

"The bad men. They took us from our mothers and kept us hidden in the lab. Me and Jane met and became sisters. We stayed together as long as possible till one day, she wasn't there. I broke free from the bad men and found my friends. The ones Jane found when she escaped the lab."

"Yeah. Whilst looking for our friend Will, we found her in the pouring rain. She helped us find him and to be honest. I'm glad she did." Mike said peering at El, as she slept soundly on him.

"Jane admires you. I can see it in her eyes. The way she looks at you. It's hidden deep inside that she's never really told you how she really feels about you. I know." Kali said looking at El too.

"El is special. She's my soul mate." Mike paused and noticed what he said.

"Is it true?" She asked Mike. "Do you really love her?" I nod and look to Kali.

"I do! I don't wanna lose her like I did before." Mike couldn't move on from losing El from the first time. It kept playing in his mind. It was awful.

"Jane is special in your eyes. Because you see love and happiness. All I see is a troubled girl who wants to find peace and warmth with the people she loves and cares about." Kali said. "I can read her." Mike peered at Kali shocked.

"Can you read me?" He asked. Kali stared at him for a while and she knew what it was about him that El loved.

"You have a very kind heart. You took her in and accepted her for who she was. You have her clean clothes and shared food with her. You helped her live. You brought Jane alive again." Mike nods and looks to El.

"I don't want to lose her again. I just want to be there for her when she needs me and hold me when she's scared." Mike spoke. "Don't you agree?" Kali nods and looks to El.

"I'll do anything for Jane. We're sisters after all." With that, Kali and Mike fell asleep in the sitting position as they rested their eyes and finally rested for the night.
