“You mean to tell me that she passed out from stress?” Cyrus asked the rebel doctor.
He nodded. “That and emotional trauma. I can’t blame her. She needs to be on the red pill.”
Cyrus’s eyes darted to Aspen’s breathing form on the blanket between them. How had he not seen this coming? Cyrus knew Aspen better than anyone in the world. How had he not seen the signs in his year together with her, and Zulu had noticed it within the first few days of knowing her?
Cyrus’s animal instincts were still very much on alert.
But Cyrus could not help but think; if he could not protect Aspen from herself, how could he protect her from others?
