Prologue

Falconflight trekked through the forest. Her mate Eagleye on her heels with her apprentice Snakepaw not far in front of her. He was eager as any apprentice visiting the highstones for the first time. It had been Falconflights first time there as well. She could smell the thunderpath and her nose wrinkled.

"Snakepaw stop," Owlstripe ordered from Falconflights other side. Snakepaw stopped and looked around. Owlstripe waited by the edge of the thunderpath. Snakepaw walked up next to him and set his paw on the black ground.

"It's warm," he said with a giggle. Falconflight rolled her eyes playfully. Owlstripe waited for the right time and sprinted across." Eagleye went next and then Snakepaw. He rocked his haunches and saw an opening. Falconflight yawned and ran over top speed beating him before he made it across. "Hey! That's not fair!" Falconflight walked away with her head held high messing with her apprentice. Snakepaw growled playfully and jumped on Falconflight. They rolled over and Owlstripe separated them.

"Alright kits break it up we still have to walk through Shadeclan territory. Do me a favor and keep quiet." Snakepaw cuffed Falconflights ear and she stuck her tongue out. The four cats journeyed farther until Falconflights paws felt like falling off. Owlstripe paused every once in awhile to flick his ears and make sure no one was following. Even though Falconflight couldn't hear anything for miles. Maybe Nightstar is trying to build the clan backup from Fangstar. Falconflight thought with sorrow. It had only been 1 moon since the battle between Shadeclan and Thornclan. One moon since she lost her brother. One of the only relatives she had left besides her father which she only recently learned wasn't dead. Her and Hawkfur had been her brother and best friend losing him was like losing a part of herself. Owlstripe stopped for the millionth time and Falconflight bumped into him.

"Oh for the love of Starclan Owlstripe! I can hear for miles and there is no one coming!" Falconflight shouted to the old warrior. He grumbled something and kept walking. Eventually they reached the highstones and Snakepaw collapsed on the ground.

"So. Much. Walking," Falconflight laughed,

"You wanted to come." She pointed out nudging him. Snakepaw rolled onto his stomach.

"Well I didn't know that walking from Thornclan to the highstones was like walking to Silverpelt!" Owlstripe laughed at Snakepaw and settled himself on a rock outside of the highstones. He turned to Eagleye.

"How about you fetch food. It's going to be a long night." Falconflight looked at the sky. The moon had just begun to rise. It was a full moon lucky enough which mean the highstone would glow even brighter than it usually did. At least that's what Hazelfrost said. It felt like moons went by before Owlstripe stood up and stretched his legs. "Go." Was all he said before dipping his head. I gulped and looked up at Eagleye. He smiled and flicked his tail towards the opening of the highstones. Falconflight walked a couple steps forward and stopped. Waiting to go in. It looked so dark. Am I ready? What if I mess up? Thoughts of the worst flowed through Falconflights mind but nonetheless she walked in the cave opening. Feeling the damp cold walls almost immediately. She couldn't see anything much less smell anything, so she relied on her ears to guide her. Eventually she opened into a large cavern with a huge rock in the center. Hazelfrost had said to touch her nose to the stone and she would be sent to sleep. Falconflight sighed and laid down in front of the rock. The moon began to appear and bounce of the stone. Illuminating the room in dancing moon light. Falconflight sighed and touched her nose to the rock. Instantly she felt herself fall asleep.

Falconflight woke up feeling her head with her paw. She stood up seeing the stars shine above her and the couple trees shine and shake in the moon. She took it in. Snow like flakes fell from the sky and Falconflight couldn't feel more at peace.
