"Falconstar! Come quickly!" Echoed a shrieking voice, at first Falconstar thought it was a dream, but then a cuffed paw over her ear caused her to sit up the cool highrock beneath her and her mate next to her. Assuming he was the cause of her waking she narrowed her eyes at him, but was met with only worry. Falconstar realized that shriek was not of a dream, but of someone in the camp. Her ears perked instantly and she shot up.
"What happened?" She questioned shaking sleep from her coat. Eagleye jumped down from the highrock and motioned his tail for her to follow.
"The dawn patrol found something you need to see." Falconstar gulped, that probably wasn't a good thing. The sun was barely rising when Falconstar jumped down to follow her mate. He lead her through the forest and across a small stream.
"Eagleye where in starclan are we going?" Before he could answer Eagleye stopped and Falconstar rammed into the back of him. She shook her head as he changed directions and pushed his way into the bushes. Falconstar smelt the air and realized they were near Floodclan territory. She followed Eagleye curiously pushing her way through the bushes. Falconstar stopped dead when she saw the dawn patrol standing in awe at the river. Before her very eyes the level of the river was dropping. Falconstar pushed her way to the river bank which was now higher than ever and beginning to dry from the lack of water. She turned to Silversnow who was among the patrol, "What's happening?"
"We don't know. We saw the river levels low by the bridge so we followed it up to the sunny rocks and found the levels dropping. The river usually freezes over in Leaf-bare not dry out." Falconstar stepped to the very edge of the frozen river bank and leaned over watching what water was left flow down the river. She ran the verse of the prophecy through her head. The river will run dry. She looked into the cloudy sky no sun was shining no birds were singing. Falconstar looked down at the grass underneath her paws. It was shriveling up and looked burnt in most patches. An Eclipse will shroud the sun, no birds will sing no grass will grow. The river will run dry and the moon will be lost forever. Falconstar shivered both from the fierce cold air and the impending disaster that was sure to follow.
"What are we going to do?" Owlstripe asked looking at Falconstar with his own worry. She thought about it for a minute. The chances of the river completly drying out was slim,
"We need to soak up as much water as possible into moss just in case the river dries completely, and pray to Starclan that it doesn't dry." The warriors nodded in agreement and each went in pairs to find moss. Once they had all gone their separate ways Falconstar was left with Eagleye. She watched the ground pacing back and forth saying the prophecy in her head over and over again. It wasn't until Eagleye stepped in front of her that she stopped.
"You need to calm down." He stated bluntly narrowing his eyes.
"The prophecy-- It's all true-- It's all coming true-"
"Has an eclipse happened yet." Falconstar shook her head. "Have the stars or the moon disappeared." Falconstar shook her head again and Eagleye gave her a reassuring lick on the ear. "We still have time." Falconstar closed her eyes and rested her head on Eagleyes shoulder.
"I'm afraid that's one of the many things we don't have."
Falconstar began to pace again before the warriors came back each holding a large clump of moss. She hurried them to dip it in the water and as the did the water went down faster. Eagleye disappeared and reappeared with two big clumps of moss and dipped them each in turn. Falconstar walked back with everyone else picking up her own fair share of moss and water. The patrol took them into camp and set them next to the freshkill pile. Awake warriors saw them, but paid no attention. Spiritkit bounded to her mother holding Falconstar amulet in her mouth. She tripped a couple times, but otherwise was okay.
