"Alright. Zach, Billy, you guys patrol the south side of town. I'll patrol the east and west with Alpha 5. Trini and Kim, you will patrol the north. Don't forget to check the abandoned mine."
Jason, leaning on a boulder, reading off a checklist, pointed to each one of his friends with a pencil while listing each of their names.
"The abandoned mine?! That's like, an hour walk from town!" Kimberly exclaimed, earning a glare from Trini that said 'don't complain'
"Exactly. It'll be a good training exercise for stamina." Jason stated. "Not to mention you and Trini work very well as a team."
Trini smirked, elbowing Kimberly lightly. "Don't worry, Kim. We fought of Rita, we can handle an abandoned mine."
"I'm not complaining about the mine, I'm complaining about the walk." Kimberly grumbled, face twisting into a disgusted frown as she broke off from the group with Trini.
Trini rolled her eyes, not replying. The two walked in silence for about an hour before Kimberly felt like her legs were going to snap off at any moment now.
"Can we stop?" Kimberly piped up. "For a rest, I mean. I feel like I'm going to collapse."
Trini raised a brow at her. "Sure. Honestly, I feel the same way."
The two settled down under the branches of an oak tree. Trini looked up at the sky. The sun was about to set. "Alpha 5 just had to pick sundown to patrol, didn't he? I hope you brought the flashlights, Kim."
Kimberly nodded, fiddling around in her string bag and pulling out two flashlights.
"Good. We'll head out again when the sun sets. After that, it should only be about another thirty minutes of walking."

Kimberly nearly collapsed again, by the time they reached the mine. "Ugh, I really need to work out more." She groaned, throwing her bag on the rocky ground and sitting in front of the mine, resting her back on a tall rock.
Trini chuckled, sliding down next to her. "Aren't you a power ranger? How are you tired?" She teased, elbowing her friend again lightly.
"I don't have my armour on, do I?" Kimberly retorted, smirking.
"Armour has nothing to do with I-"
Suddenly, a snuffling sound came from inside the mine, sounding relatively close. The two girls jumped, glancing at each other.
"What was that?" Kimberly exclaimed tentatively.
"I don't know... but we need to check it out." Trini got up, Kimberly following close behind. Trini's armour formed around her skin.
"Put yours on too, just in case."
"Hey, stop acting like you're the leader. I think we should get an equal share." Kimberly joked, but she obeyed trini's command.
Trini rolled her eyes, motioning for Kimberly to hand her the flashlight. Kimberly gave her a look in return, tossing the flashlight to her. Once Trini turned it on, the cave was illuminated in a faint light. The snuffling came again, but with a growl. It was faint, but audible.
"Let's split up." Trini poked Kimberly with the flashlight, which Kim could barely feel through her armour.
"Uh... I'm pretty sure that isn't a good idea." Kimberly gulped.
Trini's visor faded so she could look Kim in the eye. "Listen to me. You're a power ranger. You are brave. Indestructible. Nothing can hurt you." She said with a low, meaningful tone.
Kimberly faintly nodded, moved by Trini's words.
"Now, I'll meet you at the cave front in an hour. If you need me, just yell. Whatever that thing is needs to go." Trini huffed, throwing another flashlight at Kimberly. "Be safe." She threw a soft-eyed glance at her with a small smile.
Kimberly smiled back as Trini turned and walked away, leaving her alone, clutching the small flashlight in her hands.
The growl came again, and she jumped.
Well, here we go.. I guess.
