Magnus was thrown into an unusual temper when the Lady Fahnora left. He paced the floor for quite a while. His expressions changed quickly and mixed together. I think this is the first time I have ever seen him react like that. Finally he threw himself in the chair and placed his head in his hands. I sit down next to his silent unmoving form and watch him carefully before speaking.
"Magnus, I am sure that she didn't mean it. You have to look at it from her perspective. She comes to the village for the celebration, has a man follow her, and then is attacked and taken to a stranger's house. Then is told that she needs to travel with the strange men, and that she is in a dangerous prophecy she has probably never heard of. What would have your reaction been?" He sat like he was for a few moments before he rubbed his face and looked at me. His eyes are red and he looked much older than he was.
"I understand. I'm not even mad, but I don't know how to convince an unwilling person to join a mission that can result in the death of not only herself but the grief of everyone she knows. I know she is the healer, though I had suspected that she was one of the hardest to find." He mumbled something else under his breath and resumed his previous position.
"I don't know where to go from here." I stated finally. We sat in silence for what seems like forever. People might mistake Magnus as a statue if it hadn't been for the slight movement of his chest, but even that was nearly impossible to spot.
He looks at me finally. "So off topic, how did it go with Tamera?"
I blushed profusely and opened my mouth to speak but decided against telling him. I had taken her in my arms, and kissed her. She fit perfectly and she cried into my chest. She was apologizing for crying and being so cute, this is why it's so hard to leave.
My thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. I opened it to a tall stunning woman, her appearance was of a gypsy but with the smile of a rogue. Her dark hair was wavy and came off her head in a puff. She smiled at me. Her face was smooth and her tan skin was bright in the light.
"I am Meridea of the travelling caravan. You must be...Edward, Warrior, and son of John Cadlock." My surprise must have shown through, for she laughed and held her hand out. "I have traveled here many of time, I am fairly acquainted with everyone here. Although I kept my distance from the Saviors. I am here to introduce myself and to reintroduce my niece Fahnora." From behind the woman stepped the girl from earlier the healer. She straightened at her name and held her chin up. She had a flower crown on her head.
She took a shaky breath before speaking. "Hello Edward, I am sorry I ran off like that earlier." She swallowed averted her eyes and stared at the ground.
Magnus pushed passed me in the doorway and stood in front of me. He crossed his arms and furrowed his eyebrows. I laid a hand on his shoulder and squeezed slightly. He glanced at me in the corner of his eye but never turned away from Fahnora.
"Well I am glad to see you back. Have you found Aldara, and your husband?" At the word husband, Meridea turned sharply and looked at Fahnora, completely unaware.
"You have a husband? You told me you lived all alone for all these years, I even asked if you were married and you said no." She put her hands on her hips.
Fahnora shuffled her feet and stared at the ground going a deep shade of red. She closed her eyes tight and I saw something glimmer in the light. She whispered something that I didn't hear and sighed.
Meridea just stood dumbfounded. Magnus spoke- no yelled. "So you lied? For what purpose, to trick us? How do we know how much of the rest of your story is true?" He hadn't moved an inch but his face spat rage.
