I should mention that I have no idea who my mother is. My dad died when Arlington's Nome was taken over. He described her having a timeless beauty about her. They had a fling and however, after I was born, she left my father. Apparently her name was Cate Heat and she gave me her eyes and smile and some magic. My dad gave me his wits, auburn hair and sea green eyes. After my mom left he married this drunkard woman and she was a person whom because she reeked of mortality could hide us from Apophis.

Anyway when I woke up, the same guy that must have carried me and put me in a bed is watching me while talking to a guy with a mop of blond hair on his head.

"Where am I? Who are you, you odious baboons, " I ask them and try to sit but pain prickles from my side.

"The infirmary", The blond guy says and puts a balm on my side and the pain goes with a cooling affect.

"And where is the infirmary exactly?"

"Well, we are in a camp and you were unconscious so we brought you here." Blondie says. "I'm Will, and that's Percy." He points to the black haired guy. The black haired dude nods and asks Will to leave the room and he does.

"I'm Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon. I know who you are. You're a magician and I'd guess you live in the southern states near the coast. I'll take it you know Carter Kane." He says and when he sees my mouth gaping he gives me the cocky all knowing smirk and I pity his girlfriend. How does he know Carter?

"You smell like roadkill." He continues, "not that I personally know what it smells like but I had meet one of your gods and she loves roadkill."

"You've met Nekhbet? She likes dead hyena the most." I respond.

"Do you know who your parents are?" Percy asks after smiling.

"My dad was an Egyptologist and a magician that specializes in water magic and I have no idea who my mother is. All I know is what my dad told me. She seemed powerful, kind of like a hurricane raging. She loved having choices, the number 3, and in a fight, she'd use trickery than brute force."

"Okay by your answers, your mom probably was a Greek goddess. You seem more Greek than Roman. Athena would love your word choice. However, Hecate loves choices in general and would explain your magical abilities. But for now, you're in the Hermes Cabin and with Travis Stoll is your head counselor for now. I'll contact Carter and tell him your here."

I get up and find the guy that is Travis Stoll. Turns out he has a mop of brown hair, a mischievous smile, and loves messing with campers, according to Percy.

When I find the Hermes Cabin, Travis looks at me like I'm some model or something because he looks star struck.

"Excuse me, are you Travis Stoll? Chiron wants you to give me some tour of camp." I ask.

"Yeah welcome to Camp half-blood newbie." He responds and walks over and continues "Oh guys, I have been shot in the heart with a love arrow! Never have I seen such beauty as this besides Aphrodite, obviously." He says and takes my hand and kisses my hand.

"Wow and I thought chivalry was dead." I respond and before he can smirk evilly, I punch him in his side. He looks like a kicked puppy and he deserves it. "Kiss me eh, I'm not so easily won over."

"Sorry trying to be nice to a newbie. You're going to need to watch your back." He leads me to the dining pavilion, the big house again, and then the cabins.

"That building with a caduceus on it is the Hermes cabin. I'll get your bunk ready. By the way, what is your name?"

"Amaris, Amaris Finch."

"Well Amaris, I have to get Malcom to get you a weapon after dinner, unless you want to stick with your blade instead. A conch horn goes off."which is now so lets go to the dining pavilion.

When we arrive, he leads me to the Hermes table and gets me a plate and after I look down at it, there is somehow my favorite meal, a plate of barbecue and a buttered to perfection roll. He leads me to the central fire in the room and after sending an offering to Athena, I sit with the little girl tending this massive fire. Travis brings my cup of strawberry lemonade over and I eat with the girl.

"Hello, may I join you." I ask the girl. She wears this brown veil over black hair and looks like a pioneer.

" Certainly. Watching over the hearth is a pleasure for me. A portion of all the offerings, I get because of my post."

"I'll guess you're a goddess of fire or something because this fire is amazing."

"Good guess. I'm Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth." She told me. Then we talked until a short, obstinate, and middle-aged. He reminded me of my stepmom, an obvious alcoholic suffering from withdraw.

"Well, we have a new camper and she is, Amy Fray." The guy says and Chiron tells him its Amaris Finch , he doesn't care. I flinch at that name because it is my stepmom's name. " I am Mr. D. or Dionysus. Welcome to Camp Half Blood. Good luck with capture the flag."

After we finish, a dude with golden hair and stormy grey eyes, is with Travis and they take me to a shed. When they opened all I could think is where is the war.

"All demigods have at least one weapon. Whether it's a spear, bow and arrow, or even a knife." Malcom says as he tries to match a weapon to me.

"Can I have a staff? I think it is what I'm good with.", I ask while ogling at a beautifully crafted staff. It's Celestial Bronze, with a message in French on it that translated into there is more in you.

"Sure." Travis sees me ogling at it and he hands it to me. As soon as I touch it a hieroglyph that stands for Sekhmet appears and I hide it and when I press it, a blade pops out of it.

" Oh yeah, I definitely can work with this," I say as I poke the non-sharp end at Travis and he gets armor on me and we head to capture the flag.

"Okay so since you're in the Hermes Cabin for now, we fight with a few other cabins tonight are, Apollo, Athena, Ares, and Hecate, Against everyone else to capture the other team's flag," Travis told me. While I was looking at him, I noticed that he was ADHD or something because he was hyperactive and he could pay attention to everything going on.

"Okay, but what happens if we capture their flag, do we change the flag afterwards?"

"You'll see."

At the sound of a horn being blown, we charge into the red team's group and attack. I sneak around and get away from the carnage. I climb up a tree and see the red teams flag at a group of boulders.

Once I climb down, I run to the boulders. I see three people guarding it and I throw a rock nearby and one guard goes to see what it is. I then climb up a tree nearby and throw my staff's point into an area where I can make the staff a lever. I climb down and send a boulder into the other two guards. I take the flag and run away.

As soon as I pass into friendly territory, I hear cheers and before I know it the Blue team had lifted me on their shoulders of two guys and paraded me around. Travis Stoll returns my staff to me and I wave it around like it's a scepter.

Suddenly there is a growl in the air and I hear the cheers grow dim as a huge hound the size of a rhino, with red glowing eyes, and claws like talons, on the mound of boulders. It is looking right at me. I hear someone telling me to run and I can't run. The thing pounces on me and tears through my armor like its paper. Even worse is that I now can feel it cut in my body. A quick as 15 seconds after it pounced it now has 15 arrows sprouting from every direction. Now as I lay there seeing a monster dissolve into shadow, someone lays a gold sheep fleece on me.

I could feel my wounds beginning to heal. Every cut, scrape, bruise, and bump on my body that hurt, began to heal. I quickly shoved it off and immediately I feel drained. I tried to get up but I must have lost a lot of blood and I fall back down. The last thing I see, is two torches emblazing above me.

"Hail Amaris Finch, daughter of Hecate," Chiron says as I pass out
