Clementine felt the air slowly leave her body, the blood beginning to trickle down from her open wound. The teen knew how bullet wounds felt considering she had gotten shot before but this was on a whole other level of painful. She fell to the ground, grasping her chest in a weak attempt to keep the blood from pouring out of her body. Clementine had so much to live for— to fight for. An image of AJ flashed into her mind, making the girl manage a weak smile.

The world around her was starting to turn quiet with nothing but the distant cries of the Erickson kids yelling, fighting to survive and trying so desperately to stand their ground. A wave of pride crashed through as she imagined all the people she grew close to fighting with no mercy— being able to make it through this horrible attack. Clementine snapped out of her trance as those blonde locks she grew so familiar with appeared over her, Violet looking completely and utterly defeated. Her girlfriend's orbs danced all around her, tears already threatening to pour out.

"No, god no please." The other teen's voice wavered, those tears Clementine realized from before were beginning to roll down her flushed red face. Blood was splattered all over her clothes, more than likely from trying to escape from a few bandits to get to her. A warm pale hand cupped her cheek, Violet's available arm shaking in an attempt to sit Clementine up. Her throat felt incredibly dry and all the teenager wanted to do was comfort the girl she loves, but all she managed was a small croak in pain as the other sat her up against a tree.

The screams subsided faintly, and the injured girl could swear she heard Louis ushering over any remaining survivors their way. "V-Violet..." Thirsty. Clementine was overwhelming thirsty and the blood she was losing was starting to get to her head.

"I'm here— I'm here," The blonde repeated over and over, ripping off her vest and reaching over to rip a sleeve off her shirt in an attempt to apply pressure to the wound before continuing, voice shaking, "You're going to be okay, we're going to get you back safely and you're going to be with AJ." Her voice caught in her throat, and Clementine reached out to caress her girlfriend's cheek.

This girl treated her so coldly in the beginning but had a soft spot that almost no one except her and Louis really knew about. This girl made her heart flutter, helped her heal some wounds from the past that she never thought she'd be able to heal. The girl she fell in love with.

"I can't lose you Clem, I don't think I'll be able to handle that." If Violet didn't know any better she'd be downright sobbing. After what seemed like an eternity Louis and the others finally appeared, all of them wearing different expressions but their eyes all said the same thing— Their leader wasn't going to make it. Louis was the first one to take a step forward towards the couple, visibly shaken at the sight before him.

"Violet, I need you to listen to me," Clementine's voice was barely a whisper, yet everyone could hear her as clear as day. "You cannot let this drag you down, you hear me? You aren't allowed to do that to yourself." Her voice was stern, a cough falling past her lips. Violet didn't say anything in response, a stubborn glint in those forest green orbs that Clementine loved to get lost in.

With a sigh Clementine leaned over and touched her forehead with the blonde's, trying her hardest to ignore the surge of pain that went through her body. Violet immediately placed a shaky hand behind the other girl's neck and the brunette could feel herself weakly smile at the small gesture. It was a gesture the blonde often used if she woke up in the middle of the night, often a hysterical and bumbling mess. She then realized that her girlfriend was trying to comfort her. This was Violet's way of trying to tell her all the things that she'd rather leave unsaid.

"I love you." Clementine whispered softly, only loud enough for Violet to hear. The other girl shot up to gaze at her, fat tears streaming down her face like a river. The world around her started fleeing away from her, not even being able to hear Violet's response to the statement.

"I'll always love you, Clem."
