Chapter 22

Toby slowly pried the facet off the sink in the bathroom. Within a minute, it had completely broken off and water spurted right out.

"Hell yeah," Evian muttered as the water shot into the air and sprinkled on the ground. It soaked their shoes and created little puddles on the floor. Evian grabbed a bubble of water and told Toby to go break out some more people.

Just as he left, the alarms started going off. Evian urged Nolan to grab some more ammo as a guard burst right into the bathroom. He raised an eyebrow at the sight of the facet exploding and two siblings glaring at them holding bubbles of water. Of course, he didn't have time to observe, as Evian pelted her bubble right at the man's head. Nolan stuck his hand in the gush of water and a stream shot right at the door, knocking down anyone who tried to enter.

"I take down everyone in this hall! You go find where the control room is or some crap," Evian commanded.

"I don't know how all that stuff works!" Nolan called out.

"Then find Meg! She said something about computers being her useless major or something!"

"Fine!" Before Nolan took his hand away from the stream of water, Evian handed him a little floating orb of water. He caught in his palm. It precariously vibrated like crazy. He pushed through the bathroom door and wobbled through the hallway, muttering, "Okay...okay...."

Toby had just finished prying the bars off Meg's cell when Nolan found her. Security guards were rushing into the hall, but most were getting knocked down on arrival. Evie was lighting balls of fire in her palm and chucking them at anyone who got close. And most prisoners started fighting the second they were released. Nolan felt someone touch his shoulder and flinched. He turned and tossed his bubble right at the guard behind him, knocking the man backward.

Nolan grabbed Meg and started running through the halls.

"The control rooms down here...I think!" Nolan yelled.

"What?" Meg exclaimed, stumbling a little. The halls they ran through were mostly quiet. The patients there were mostly sleeping until Meg and Nolan dashed by them. Hopefully, it was enough commotion to wake them up, but not so much to alert any more security. At the end of the hall was a white door with a gray "do not enter" sign. Nolan picked up speed towards the door and burst right in.

Luckily, the people who usually stayed by the cameras had moved out to deal with the rebellion. Right in front of them were a whole of screens showing different cell blocks on the floor. Most were pretty peaceful, except for two. Toby had broken down the bars of his whole block and was moving onto the next. Every powered that had escaped was bringing down full force on the guards before they could get to them. Meg rolled into one of the chairs and looked down at the multitude of buttons. Meg stared at them confused before started to type quickly.

Nolan anxiously watched the screen. One guard tried to grab Taiga, but she slapped him with her stone-cold hand. And to make it worse, Evie jumped up to smack the same person with a small flame in her hand. Nolan almost felt bad for the guy, but Nolan knew worse would've been done to his cousin and Evie.

The wave of guards started to overcome the rebels. Robbie and Desmond where cornered back into their cells. Toby was grabbed by at least four guards so he would stop freeing other prisoners. Anxiously, Meg typed even faster and smashed a multitude of buttons. Within an instant, all the cells on the floor opened.

What followed was complete madness.

Powereds were breaking out of their cells faster than guards could contain them. Hell, some were even running down the stairs and throughout the building. Nolan could see it on the cameras. They rummaged right into the living quarters of scientists and drove them right out.
