About a week had passed by since they were kidnapped. They had been forced into uncomfortable hospital clothes and experimented on to some extent with magic, but not so that they were harmed. A few days in, Harold and Janice had appeared in their midst, the former raging, and the latter shaken. They too had been unceremoniously thrown into a truck and taken away. As for the outside world, not a single person noticed their absences- the Magicians of the Square Construct had taken every precaution- instead of silencing those close to them as all villains usually do, they had replaced their presences with man-made magic human dolls, able to act exactly like the people they had replaced. As such, no missing persons report had been filed for any of them, because from the point of view of those around them, none of them had gone missing at all. But day by day, as they'd been shuffled back into their plain, hospital rooms, each one had been hatching their own plan to escape. For the bookish Janice, she had briefly considered digging her way out with a spoon, as per a book she had read, but quickly realized it was futile, as it had taken the man years to succeed, only to have dug in the wrong direction. The MC had escaped, but the man was not so lucky. Therefore, she discarded the thought from her mind.
"Whatever happened to Toby?" Lila moaned, bedding with Miss Forticia. She was having a fit, rolling around on the bed that they shared. "Toby, Toby, Toby... Uwahh, I'm terribly bored! And I'm not a board, I'm BORED!"
"Shut up and deal with it! I'm thinking of a way to get out!"
"Then hurry up, my login streak's ruined already! And my backlog's piling uppppp.... Ah, the pain!" she rolled off the bed and hit her nose. "I knew that would happen!"
"If you knew that, then why'd you do it!?"
"My premonition showed me that if I did that, I'll be able to escape!" she said, sitting up and holding a thumbs up.
"Your nose is bleeding. I'm not sure that's going to be a solution," she responded, sighing.
"Oh, really?"
A sparkle in her eye alerted those around her that she was up to no good.
"Help!" she shouted, pounding on the door. "I'm dying! I hit my head and there's internal bleeding!"
A nice nurse came over to check on them and possibly silence her, so she opened the door with her key card and immediately fainted after seeing a bloody Lila.
"I guess she's ill-suited for the job," Lila said, grinning while looking like a crazed murderer.
"And you look like a murderer," Miss Forticia retorted as they walked out of the room, and Miss Forticia deprived the nurse of her uniform. "Let's go. And clean up your face. I can see why she was frightened."
"Come on, that's no fun!"
The hallways were fairly empty, with not a person to show for their troubles. White, drab walls in a never-ending hallway surrounded them on all sides, with nearly-invisible doors peeking out just a little bit. Miss Forticia couldn't speak for anyone besides herself, but it was unsettling and uncomfortable for her, when she was usually a very strong person when watching any horror movies Toby had just happened to turn the channel to. This was a woman who had gotten her memories erased by a monster with the facade of a creepy old man, and gotten them back by slaying said monster. If that wasn't hardcore enough for the average horror movie, then the average horror movie was probably not for normal people to watch.
"Do you think we've walked enough? Should we start opening the doors?" she asked, more cautious than usual.
"Well, there's a door up ahead that seems to be the answer. I don't think anything inside will not be vomit-inducing, or alternatively, stomach-churning, but let's give it a try, right? It's going to lead to our escape, after all."
