When I woke up it was late at night again. "Great. Slept through the whole day." I muttered to myself. Getting up and grabbing my bag, I looked up at the mountain and sighed. "Common, once you get to the top, you'll be able to find the traveling merchants."
If the beast doesn't find me first. I swallowed nervously and started walking. Just..... Hope it's out or asleep.
The more I walked, the more I felt strange. It was like walking in a world of slow motion. Nothing seemed normal here. Like in the stories. It got colder, and snow fell close to the top, despite it being the beginning of fall. I couldn't help but feel like something powerful was here. I knew that there was. The horn grew warmer, causing me to flinch. I took it out from in my jacket, only to find it was glowing slightly. I held it close to my chest as the air kept getting colder. It was strange, I seemed to be getting higher than I actually thought. Than I remembered the beasts curse. I pulled out a notebook I had kept and opened it, looking through my notes until I found it.
"Time around the beast will continue, but it will never age normally." Well that explains it. It slows time for itself. Meaning, I'm practically time-traveling the closer I got. That's alarming.
While reading I didn't see the giant hole in the ground until I tripped and fell into it. I let out a scream as I fell, and blacked out as I hit the ground.
I opened my eyes to see dawn light slowly peeking into the giant cave I'd just fallen into. Somehow, nothing felt broken. I looked at where I landed, and it was a small pile of golden flowers. They broke my fall. I think.
Getting up, I nearly fell over in pain. My leg was badly bruised. Thankfully it wasn't broken. I struggled to walk, since I had to bite my lip to avoid yelling with every step. The further into the cave I went, the more I felt I was being watched. I pulled my cloak tightly around myself, shivering slightly despite the heat the horn was giving off. My hooves clicked on the smooth stone surface. So much for being quiet.
I stopped when movement caught my eye. I looked around, ears perked and alert. "H-Hello?........."
"What business do you have here?" A male voice responded. His voice was kinda loud, but it didn't sound like he was shouting.
"U-um.... I-I'm lost.... I-I'm just trying t-to find the t-traveling merchants.... And a-a way out of here..... C-can you help?"
"I could. But I won't."
I had a sinking feeling in my stomach. I didn't like where this was going.
"W-why?....."
"I can't have perfectly good prey escape me, now can I?"
Prey?....... Wait......... I started shaking. From the cold, the pain from my leg, the exhaustion, and the growing fear that felt like a cold blade piercing my core.
"P-Prey?........" My ears go down. Big cave at the top of Mt.Ebott..... Loud voice.... Oh no.
Suddenly, a large hand grabbed me from the shadows, and a dark growl echoed loudly.
