Philip not wanting to leave the king alone stood outside the ring of fire to watch the battle unfold. As the kings brother, it was his duty to watch this battle and report back to the queen on how it all unfolded. His heartache as he watched the king fall to his knees, awaiting the devouring flames. The dragon without mercy was not holding back one bit. The flames around him were nothing compared to the intense heat that was coming from the dragon which he was feeling. As the flames reached the king, Philip closed his eyes as tears fell down his cheeks. Farewell, my king, he said.

It was the end. The flames reached the king in an engulfing heat that he had never seen before.

Fresh air? What? The king opened his eyes and could see the flames dancing pass him as if it was nothing more than a cloth of silk. It was not hot, nor burning, nor heavy; it just was. It was flowing around him and it was cool and fresh, not hot. Am I not supposed to be in flames? He couldnt believe it. It was incredible. It was outstanding. That gave him more courage to face the dragon. He looked down at his shield and saw the three stones, the stones he had forged into his shield; they were glowing.

He stood up with a new determination. Though the dragon was still sending its ravaging flame at him, the king charged forward. His shield pushed forward with his left arm and sword in the right, I will capture and tame you. God knows the future depends on it, said he. The dragon now furious and angry that he couldnt kill his captor. Seeing its flame was ineffective, it switched tactics. Using its tail, it swung it after the king. Had the beast hit him any harder, he would have died from the blow. The sound of massive muscles hitting his armor was short yet loud. It disappeared as soon as it was heard. Landing 15 feet away from the blow he yelled at the dragon, How is this possible? Arent these stones supposed to protect me from you? How is it you managed to hurt me?

Had it not been chained down, it would have charged to devour. Luckily that was not the case. Every direction it tried going there was always chains holding it back. If it tried to fly, it would be impossible. The king had the advantage over the dragon, for it was neither able to circle him, nor turn around. The only turning the beast could do was with his tail, which could swing from side to side.

With the area in the forest ravaging in flames, the king had to hurriedly escape this ring of fire he was trapped in. Semi-circle. Right behind the dragon was a way out that was yet to be engulfed in flames. The only issue was its tail and mouth. Youre a dragon, the king thought, so the flames technically cant kill you. So once they die out Ill be back to finish this. Youre not getting away from me. Step by step, the king ran toward his foe, with his shield now on his right arm and sword in its sheath. He planned to faint a right then full sprint toward the dragons right side, but it was not going to be easy to trick it. Growling softly and swinging its tail from left to right waiting for his rival to come closer in order to devour him, the beast stood firm and was not moved by the Kings tricks. The dragon sending all its weight on his left side swung its tail after the king. Doing a sweep attack with its tai, the king could no longer faint a left but had to keep the course.

Quick! Quickly switching his shield side, he used his foes tail as support and rolled on top of it and dashed forward underneath the beast. Close to escaping, a shadow of something above him was visible on the ground. Before he could realize what it was, he was dragged toss back inside what was his prison. The dragon had wrapped its tail around his waist and tossed him over its head, sending him to land on his back. Intense pain ran through his stomach due to the impact, a second attack from his foe was far from his mind if one had indeed been the case.

The blazing forests heat was growing hotter and heavy smoke started filling the air, causing the king to be in a state of dehydration and in need of oxygen. The fight was getting serious. The king had engaged in a battle that he really couldnt win. At least he thought so. There is no way to tame it at the current moment. And if it escapes, itll destroy everything I fought for and built. I cant kill it, hes a mighty beast. It can be a weapon, an ally in a time of war. I definitely cant kill you. But I need to escape this death trap. Alright, here we go again. The king said to himself.
