Chapter Seventeen

Night had fallen by the time I returned to La Push and found Sam waiting for me. I grin at him as I walked across the sand and to were he was standing, watching as his expression didn't change the slightest.

He was as good at controlling his emotions as I was at not having them.

"Sam."

He turned at last with an unreadable expression. No doubt he learned of my whereabouts or had a guess to what I had been doing the last few hours.

"Belle."

I rolled my eyes at that name being used once again.

"You and Carlisle sure wish to make it difficult to forget that that plain human name." I said, studying him. "I prefer Arebelle. Sounds much more lovely then that other one. Why is it that the Alpha of the pack wishes for me to return to his land filled with humans?" I inquired, watching him.

Sam let out a sigh staring me down.

"Because you are a danger that we are to keep watch on." It sounded like he practiced that line a bit. "We're placed here to keep you in line and from harming the living."

So he thought he would be able to keep me in line. How cute.

"It doesn't work like that." I stated, shifting my weight. "You might be able to control the Cullen's because they care about the lives they take but I don't. You should really watch the news Sam."

His expression darkened.

"What did you do?" He demanded.

"Oh, don't look so hurt." I waved him off. "I didn't touch the children."

A growl came from him.

"What did you do." He repeated, trying to intermediate me.

My eyes flashed to him. He shouldn't underestimate vampires.

"What a vampire is born to do. Take lives and create blood baths." His body shook at my words, anger exploding in his eyes. "Oh please, if it bothered you that much you wouldn't sit ideally by as settle is rampaged with vampire." I once again waved his anger off.

I looked out towards the ocean remembering the times that I had crossed it. Once when I had ran from my brother I found myself in what they call England now a days. Even as I recalled these events that emotions I felt with them didn't make their appearance.

It seems my switch was off for good this time.

"How many did you kill."

"Hmm," I faced him before shrugging. "One." I answered. "The others weren't worth my time honestly but I did play a fun little game. You wanna hear?" The smile played on my lips as his face flashed.

It was fun forcing the humans to play games.

I had left my calling card for anyone who knew what to look for.

There were others, I was sure, still looking for me.

Now they knew where to look.

Sam looked disgusted, shaking his head. "Do you feel nothing for what you did?" He demanded.

"Why should I care if humans die as long as a few remain for me to feed off of. They start wars for not reason so me helping them out only thins the herd a little." I shrugged, uncaring. "I see nothing wrong with having fun."

He grabbed my shoulder, my eyes falling to his hand that was hot to the touch. The heat radiated from him in waves, much like the anger that I could see in his eyes when I looked back up.

"While you're in my state you won't be slaughtering anyone." It was clear he was giving me warning and that I wouldn't receive another one. "Follow me. Until I trust you to not touch another soul you're not leaving my sight."

I raised an eyebrow at him.

"You do realize that I'm stronger then you and that I can compel you. There is nothing you can do to stop me from 'slaughtering' the humans around us." I stated, tugging my arm out of his hand. "Unless you plan to pay darling no touchy."

He glared down at me, standing taller then the first moment I saw him waiting for me. I played with my fingernails, waiting for him to lead the way.

"Speechless? I know I would be to." I raised an eyebrow at him. "Where we going? Got any alcohol?"
