A breeze came out of the sea
And said, 'O warmth make room for me.'

It hailed the ships, and cried, 'Rest and bow,
Ye Mariners, the day is gone now.'

And hurried the landward far away
Crying, 'Sleep! It's the night paving a way.'

Than it slightly touched the bird's wings
And said, 'O bird, sleep under you soft things.'

Than it crossed the churchyard with a sigh
And said, 'Wake up! It's your time.'
