*2011*

"You thought I was gone."  A familiar voice rings inside of my head.

I turn around to face my worst nightmare.  Carrow sits on top of my desk, checking her nails as always. "Carrow, what do you want?" I'm on the verge of tears.  I'm not ready for this again.

"Well, your life wouldn't be a living hell without me, would it? So I've decided to stay here, with you, forever." She grins to herself with her eyes still on her nails.

"Carrow, why?" I feel a single tear trickle down my cheek.

She stands up and makes her way over to me.  Carrow puts up her hand, as if she's putting in on my cheek, but all I feel is a slight breeze each time she tries.  Carrow scoffs. "Of course you know why, you've always known why."  Carrow vanishes into mid air leaving me alone.  I have no idea what she means by that, but I know what she meant earlier, Carrow will be back to haunt me.

The tears start to flow freely.

*Present Day*

Hazel

Hazel Tobiason applies her make up in front of the mirror of her personal bathroom.  Layers and layers of foundation and blush.  Dark eyeliner and eyeshadow to make her look almost like a raccoon.  Hazel frowns as she looks at herself.  She hates looking fake and wearing an ass load of make up, but she has to if she wants to fit in with her friends.  Hazel had already done her hair.  Every single day, she has to straighten her normally insanely curly hair.  If she left it the way it was for even a day, her friends would abandon her.

Memories float through her mind.  The person she wants to be.  The transformations of her friends and herself.  The many things that she regrets.

Hazel pulls her phone from the pocket of her short shorts.  Another thing Hazel hated: looking like a slut everyday of the year.  At least Hazel looked good in them.  Hazel's naturally skinny and actually had a nice bust.  Boys always looked down her low cut tank tops.  Sometimes she can't help but feel vandalized and objectified. See, that's what her friends are going for, anything to get the attention of the guys.  Of course it works, it always works for them.

Hazel and her group of friends have managed to become the most popular girls at Jefferson High School.  Their whorish reputations must be lived up to, whether Hazel liked it or not.

Hazel heard two honks, meaning that Taylor was here to pick Hazel up from her mansion.  The girls and her switch off carpool, so today, Taylor would be driving in her black Mercedes.

Quickly, Hazel grabs her gold coach bag and stuffs her makeup and some clothes in it.  One last check in the mirror, and Hazel's off running to the car.

"Bye mom!" she shouts as she exits the house.

Hazel rushes over to the small Mercedes and swings the back door open, the rest of the girls are already in there.  "Hazel, you look great today!" Hazel's friend Gabby gushes.

"Thanks," Hazel mutters.  She's finding it hard to resist the urge to grab a tissue and wipe her face clean.  But like everyday, she grits her teeth and puts on her fake smile.

The girls start going on about how the boy band 'One Direction' was going to start attending their school in the same grade today.  Hazel adds her input every once in a while, but she lied about being a fan of theirs.  Well, really she lied about being a 'Directioner'.  In Hazel's spare time, she doesn't google One Direction facts or look at pictures of them shirtless, but Hazel did like a few of their songs, especially the songs 'Moments' and 'More than This'.  Absentmindedly, Hazel begins humming Moments quietly, barely audible to anyone in the car.  Unfortunately, another friend of Hazel's, Bella, picks up on it.
