Hitchhiker

J – Joe

D – Devonne

W – Waitress

{In the country, along a desert road, a girl is seen walking. A guy driving by decides to stop to offer her a ride.}

J: Hey, you need a ride?

D: Yeah thanks.

{She gets in the truck.}

J: Hey my name is Joe.

D: I'm Devonne.

J: Nice to meet you.

D: You too.

{They start driving.}

J: Where are you headed?

D: Anywhere you want to go.

J: Really?

D: Yeah I've been doing this a while I'm not worried.

J: How long is a while?

D: A year.

J: You ever ran into some psychoses?

D: Yeah one or two.

J: How'd you handle that? That must've been terrifying.

D: I studied martial arts for a while and I still do so I know how to take care of myself and handle others.

J: Oh so you're a badass.

D: You could say that.

{They both laugh.}

D: So where are you going?

J: I was going to grab something to eat. You down?

D: Yeah sure, I have nowhere to be.

J: Good.

{After a few minutes, they pull into the parking lot of a diner. They walk in the door and have a seat at a booth. A waitress goes to their table.}

W: Hi, how are you two doing?

J: We're good. What about you?

W: I'm good. Can I get you guys some coffee or tea before you order?

J: What do you want?

D: I'll have a green tea please.

J: I'll have the same thing.

W: Okay, I'll be right back with your teas. In a meantime, here's the menu so you can decide on what you want to eat.

{She hands each of them a menu.}

J: Thanks.

W: You're welcome.

{The waitress walks away.}

J: So what are you getting? By the way feel free to get anything you want, on me.

D: Well in that case I'll take three of everything.

{They both laugh. The waitress comes back with the tea.}

W: Are you two ready to order?

J: You go first.
