The New Kid

Chapter Two

For the rest of the day, the losers showed little Eddie Kaspbrak around the school. Showed him where everything was, but most importantly who to trust and who not to trust. Swooning girls kept going up to mike and flirting. He wasn't interested, so he pushed them away. Michael Hanlon had his heart set on someone already, a certain Ben "Haystack" Hanscom. But, Ben had feelings for Beverly. Beverly didn't feel the same. Beverly loved Richie Tozier. She couldn't find a way to tell him though. Bill used to love Beverly, but now he is head over heels for Stanley Uris. Stanley is in love with Bill Denbrough. Richie Tozier hasn't had a crush on anybody before. Before he met Eddie Kaspbrak that is. When it was lunch time, all of the losers and Eddie sat at their usual table to eat. Ben had a cafeteria lunch. He only had a salad since he was trying to get skinny for Beverly. This made Mike concerned, but he didn't show it. This was Mike's first year going to public school. Before, he was known as the only homeschooled kid in Derry. Mike had some PB&J sandwiches from the farm since he was a vegetarian. Ben stared longingly at them. Mike took Ben's salad and passed the sandwiches to him. "You don't need to starve yourself. You're fine just the way you are." Ben smiled a thanks, and Mike blushed. Beverly picked at her food, staring dreamily at Richie. Stan and Bill were playing footsie under the table. Richie was staring at Eddie like he was the most important thing in the world. "Welcome to the loser's club, asshole." Richie said to Eddie. "Loser's club? What the fuck is that?" He asked, confused. "It's our club. We call ourselves the losers so that it takes away the fun when other people call us losers. It's a sort of metaphor." Stan the wise said. "Oh. Well I'd be delighted to join your club." Eddie said, smiling warmly at them all. "Now Eds, we have something to discuss. Why the hell are you so smol?" Richie asked, pinching Eddie's cheeks. The tiny boy slapped Richie's hands away and yelled "Fuck you! And don't call me Eds!" Everyone exploded into laughter. Even Eddie. It was at this moment that Eddie felt like he truly belonged.
