People always say that the beginning is always the hardest part, which is indefinitely true for a large percentage of the human population. However, you can't help but disagree with a rather large portion of this saying and prescribe much more to your own revised version of the popular saying, "the hardest part about beginning anything is figuring out how to start." Deep thoughts and truly higher thinking just flowed from you like a waterfall. It was just too bad that something so philosophical was revealed to you during the drafting of your avatar for the newest game that you had acquired, something meaningful and trivial to you all at once.
A deep frown covers your face as you consider the many 'species' options in your newest game. Dragonborns, elves, goblins, humans and many more options flooded the screen in front of you, all of which were unique and cool in their own ways. You click through each bio methodically, undecided on which one to go with.
"Well I don't really wanna be extra and be something like a dragonborn or elf," you mumble to yourself. Goblins were nasty looking and didn't interest you in the slightest, but being boring and choosing the 'human' option seemed too basic. You sigh deeply, clicking the back keyboard key, "Human it is I guess? I don't even wanna know what a 'frog person' is. Gotta be basic I guess."
The word 'human' is clicked with finality.
"And now onto even worse things," you say as you stare at all of the possible classes that you could choose. "Why did I let my brother talk me into this again?" A whole repertoire of classes is listed before you. You pout at all the choices. This was way too much work! You barely look at all the options before making your choice as quickly as possible.
"Please let that be all the decision making I have to do today," you groan as you watch the next screen load. A brilliant smile crosses your face as you are greeted not by another form, but rather, the main screen. You stare transfixed as the usual action sequence trailer commences, promising new friends and adventure. Your hands hurriedly connect your VR headset, snapping the elastic to the back of your head. "Let's go!"
You waste no time as soon as you place your headset on, choosing all of your physical features to make a near-exact replica of yourself. "Welcome, player!" Blinking rapidly, you stare at the small stylized demon levitating in the air before you, clad in luxurious robes and jewels with a small wizard's hat on its head. "I am Ōtsu― the Game Master of Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, or simply Six Paths, as everyone calls it! I will be your guide for the tutorial of this beloved game, let's begin!"
"The text in the left corner vision are your stats, including HP and mana." In your field of vision, you notice two small text bubbles appear, one empty and the other filled. "You earn mana, which can be used to cast spells or develop unique powers based on your class!"
You nod in understanding and a small bottle of bubbling purple liquid is handed to you. "Drink this!" You do so without thought and watch as your mana bar slowly fills to roughly half. "Now you have enough mana to cast a single spell or acquire a minor ability, though I suggest you use your mana sparingly."
