~Your POV~
Walking into the train station was like walking into chaos. People rushed about everywhere, either in fear of missing their train or trying to find their companions for their trip, alarms rang to signify train's departures and the big arena seemed so much smaller due to all the commotion. Looking down at my ticket I confirmed the platform and the departure time before making my way over to my designated spot. As I walked along the polished floor I drowned out conversations as my own fearful thoughts took over, my knuckles turning white as I clutched my suitcase hard.
Arriving at my platform I walked onto the train and found a seat all to my self. Smiling I set my luggage up on the rack and sat myself down when the door slid open. Looking over my eyes met an older woman who appeared to be almost dead, a small bundle on her back. "May I sit here?"
"Of course. Yeah, go right ahead."
The woman bowed her head and made her way in, a young boy and girl following in behind her. The two kids sat down while I assumed their mother placed luggage near mine. Taking the bundle off her back she sat down before awkwardly rocking the object in her arms. Realizing it was a baby I smiled and continued watching the woman before gazing over at her children. My smile grew as the little girl (she was around 5) played with her dolly and the older boy (he was around 11) pulled out a Game and Watch console, silently playing a game. "Tickets please."
Turning my head I saw the train conductor, his hand holding a hole puncher. Giving him my ticket he examined it before giving it a hole, verifying that the ticket was valid. Stashing it in my shorts pocket the ticket keeper did the same to my companions' tickets before leaving, the three returning to what they were doing. Seeing as my compartment pals weren't going to talk I pulled out a ball of yarn and my knitting needles, returning to my project that I had a few days ago. "Ladies and gentlemen, the train shall now begin it's journey. Please remain seated until we leave the station."
With that the train began it's trek, smoke piling around my window before the brickwork was replaced with nature. After a few minutes the mother stood and took her baby with her as she left the compartment, most likely to the bathroom. Needing to rid of the silence I began to hum to myself as I worked, my fingers expertly moving about. Out of the corner of my eye I could see the little girl look over at me and smile, her sliding off the seat and tapping my leg. I paused in my work and looked at her, curiosity gleaming in her eyes. "What's your name, miss?"
"Y/n. And you?"
"Sophie. That's my brother Jared."
"Well it's nice to meet you, Sophie."
About to go back to my work I noticed that the small girl stepped closer, obviously interested in my work. "Whatcha doin?"
"Knitting."
"Is it hard?"
"It was at first but once I got the hang of it it became super easy."
Sophie smiled and tried to get her brother's attention but he was too immersed in his video game, his eyes glued to the screen. Giving a small smile I pat the space next to me, "Sophie, would you like to learn how to knit?"
She nodded her head rapidly, causing her pigtails to go swinging. Setting herself down by me I explained the procedure and explained my project. The tiny human nodded and often asked questions about me repeating something or just knitting in general. After a few minutes the door opened and the kid's mother returned, her skirt taking up half of the seat. Noticing her daughter the woman said in a kind voice, "Sophie dear, please stop pestering our companion. Perhaps she'd like some time alone."
"It's fine, Ma'am. She wasn't bothering nobody."
"Y/n's right, Mommy!"
"Alright. Just don't cause any trouble."
"I won't!"
And with that the next few hours were spent with Sophie: teaching her knitting, reading to her and allowing her to lean on my shoulder as she slept. While my companions all dreamed I watched the night roll by, clouds secluding the moon away like my thoughts. I wonder what my Aunt and Uncle are going to be like...what Maine's going to be like. What kind of place will I be living in?
Looking up at the rushing stars I felt some tears slowly fall down my face as my thoughts became muddled. Closing my eyes I slowly drifted off into sleep, my deep thoughts becoming mindless dreams.
Opening my eyes I looked around confused. Where was I? Turning around in a 360 all I saw was white fog. As I was scanning the area a soft melody began to play behind me, I quickly spinning around in fear. It was then color appeared within the misty white. Squinting my eyes I could see a patch of red, my feet seemingly moving on their own towards the object. Stopping just a few steps from it I saw that the item was a balloon, it staying still. Curious I titled my head when suddenly...
"Y/n, wake up!"
I shot awake and looked around to see Sophie looking at me. "The train stopped."
Confused I looked up at the girl's mother who simply replied with, "We've reached the train station, dear."
I nodded and quickly grabbed my stuff, following the trio out to the platform. "I guess this is goodbye then."
"Goodbye, Y/n! It was to meet you!"
"You too, Sophie. Have a safe trip."
Smiling I watched them leave, the pig-tailed girl turning to wave. I chuckled and waved back before heading to the nearest exit leading to the lobby. Walking down the stairs I looked around the large room when my eyes caught sight a couple holding a sign. Upon closer inspection I could read it was my name in bright letters. Going towards them the couple smiled at me, greeting me with open arms. "Hello, Y/n dear! How big you've grown since last time we've seen you!" My Aunt exclaimed, quickly enveloping me in a hug.
"I-I can't breathe, Aunt Kimberly!"
"Oh just call me Kim, dearie!" she said, setting me down.
I nodded and looked the two over. Aunt Kim may have been my mom's sister but really the only thing they had in common was hair and eye color. Otherwise this woman was nothing like my mom. Her hair was done up in a bun with the hair being wavy at the end, a green polka dotted bandanna holding her hair together. Her clothing on the other hand was a dress that fit her slim figure nicely, the pattern of flowers being almost blinding compared to the white fabric that it was on. Looking over at my Uncle I noted he was bald and a bit on the chubbier side, his fat kind of looking like muscle. His attire consisted of a cliche Hawaiian tourist shirt, black track pants with white stripes on the sides and leather sandals. It was odd to think these two were a part of my family considering how weird they were but my cover judging opinion could be changed. "You must be exhausted from all the travelling you did today, Y/n. How about we get on home and make some dinner." Uncle Benjamin stated.
"That sounds nice."
The two smiled, Benjamin taking my suitcase and Kim taking my arm, leading me out to their car. And as I plopped myself into the backseat of their beige Maserati Biturbo Spyder I prepared myself for my new life.
