The Covenant was in an uproar. They were arguing between themselves about what to do about the war with the Reinai.
We must not retaliate. We should just wait for their next attack!"
"Other Shengrai would think of us as cowards. We shouldn't just sit here and do nothing as innocent lives are being lost. We should send out our strongest Cairenei to fight against the Reinai!"
"That's suicide!"
It was mahem! They had been arguing for half an hour. The leader, Frederick, couldn't take it.
"That enough!"
The room went silent.
"Look a yourselves. We are supposed to be fighting the Reinai, not each other. While all of you are arguing, hundreds of people are being murdered by the Reinai. I can't believe all of you would be so careless."
"Frederick, we didn't mean-"
"No, I know. If you all don't mind, I'd like to get back to discussing the situation in an orderly matter."
They all sat down and Frederick sighed in disappointment.
"Both of the outcomes that you suggested are good, but come with their own consequences. I say we have half of us stay here and work on planning the attacks and the other half lead the Cairenei and any Shengrai, who are willing to help, to fight and protect the innocents."
He waited for it to sink in. He saw a few members exchange glances of agreement, except Randolph, who was keeping to.himself. His face was grim and uninterested. Frederick stared at him intently.
"Is there something wrong?" he asked Randolph, who looked up quickly, as if he was caught up in his thoughts.
"Uh, yes. It's just that... I was going to return to my home town, Bulgaria, so I could... tell my family about the... situation and fair well them goodbye incase I...don't return after the war," he stuttered, and Frederick looked cautiously at him.
"Why did you not inform me about your plan?"
"I was going to tell you at this meeting, which is what I have just done. I'm leaving this afternoon at four."
He suddenly let his eyes.wonder around the room, not meeting his leaders eyes.
"So soon? I'm surprised. I will allow you to leave and visit your family in Bulgaria, but I expect you back here in 2 days," he demanded and Randolph stood up.
"Thank you, Frederick," he said as he shook his hand. "I will be back as soon as I can," and with that he walked out of the meeting room.
Frederick felt unsure of his decision. He was cautious about Randolph, especially when he was stuttering at his words, as if he didn't know what he was doing.
"If you'll excuse me, I must check on something," he excused and left the meeting room.
When he walked out, he saw a shadow walk round the corner and he followed it, knowing immediately that it was Randolph. He exited their base, which was hidden underground in Northern Arizona. He followed cautiously behind Randolph, every step he took he made sure there was know branch or twig that would give him away. He saw Randolph walk into a cave hidden at te base of a mountain. He walked in after him, making sure nobody, or nothing would see him. though it was rather dark. Frederick tried carefully to navigate his way through the darkness. As a light neared in the distance he noticed what was holding it and quickly hid behind a large rock. Randolph walked up to the Reinai who was holding the, what it looked to be, lantern and wished to see Tachus at once. Tachus was the leader of the Reinai and he was as ruthless and bloodthirsty as a lion who hadn't eaten in a month.
