Just a quick one shot that I couldn't get out of my head. Hope you all enjoy it :)
Everyday after staying at Karma's house after school, Karma and Molly would drop Amy off outside her house. This was how it was for years. It was a comfortable routine they had made over the many years the two girls had been best friends.
Amy was used to the 20 minute drive, and the warm hug Karma would give her each day. It was nice. It was normal. It was completely platonic.
Well..it was platonic. Until something changed between them.
Amy couldn't quite put her finger on it. They were best friends, there for each other when no one else was. So she couldn't understand why, when she looked at Karma, she felt like she was falling.
It was completely innocent at first. Amy would reach and lay her hand on Karma's, until the auburn haired girl would slowly lace their fingers together. A warmth would spread through her chest, and Amy would have to withhold a beaming smile, somehow she knew that sharing that kind of smile would not be in her favour.
But as the days went on, she couldn't help but want more. She wanted a little more than a brief touch of hands in the back of Karma's mum's car.
But maybe that was selfish of her.
So one rainy Tuesday afternoon, Amy decided to be brave.
Instead of sitting next to the window, she chose to sit right next to Karma. She placed her school bag on the seat next to her, so she wouldn't have to move away.
Luckily Karma didn't seem to mind, in fact she gladly leaned into Amy's side, nattering away about something they had learnt about at Hester that day. And Amy was more than glad to listen.
The blonde gently brushed her friend's arm and just about noticed a slight hitching of breath, come from Karma. That was a good sign, right? There was a momentary pause, in her friend's story, but Karma soon carried on, acting like nothing had happened.
Licking her dry lips, she hummed, and let out a small chuckle at what her friend had said. Even if she did feel something for the girl sitting next to her, it didn't mean that she had stopped being her best friend.
Shifting her weight on the seat, Amy sighed as she saw that her house was coming into view. It was nearly time to go, and yet she half wanted to take Karma with her. (No doubt her mother, Farrah, would only shake her head and say something disapproving about having Karma over for yet another night.)
Once the car had stopped, Molly turned in her seat and gave Amy a warm smile, before turning back. It was what she did every time, she always checked to see if Amy was ready to go, as the two girls had a habit of getting lost in each other.
Amy couldn't help but notice the way Molly glanced at the two of them, and she was sure that she had a glint in her brown eyes. The same brown eyes, that echoed the exact shade in Karma's.
Tugging her seat belt off, Amy was pulled into a hug, a tight warm hug. A hug that she would die to come home to each night.
Winding her arms around Karma's waist, she buried her head in her neck and held her tighter. For one mad moment, she thought that she heard a quiet whimper escape her friend's lips, but she might have only imagined that.
Just as she was pulling away, Amy pressed a kiss to Karma's left cheek and flushed. She had finally kissed her. Well..it was a kiss on the cheek, but that still counted, didn't it?
At her sudden action, Amy was glad that it was pouring down. The rain clouds made everything seemingly grey, and rather dull. At least Karma wouldn't be able to see Amy's red cheeks, or hear the blonde's sigh of happiness, over the pounding of the rain drops on the roof of the car.
Grabbing her bag, Amy made to dash out of the car, with her umbrella ready, but a hand grasped at her wrist, tugging her back into the warmth.
This time a pair of lips covered her own. It was chaste. It was soft. And it was everything that Amy had been hoping for.
If only she knew, that Karma had been hoping for it too.
