Secrets Revealed

The Next Day

Hiroki just got out of class with Johnny. Finishing up their last period, the two head back to their dorms to study. Everything was going well until his phone vibrated.
"Oh... Not now." Hiroki said whining.
"What's wrong?" His best friend asked.
"Duty calls." He told Johnny. He read the text as stated: LOOK AFTER WILLIAM. DON'T FORGET.
-LAURA
Tamiya and Milly passed by as they said hi to Hiroki. Not Johnny, however. Hiroki was shy but waved back anyways smiling at Milly.
"Hey, Milly. What you up to?" He asked.
"Oh nothing. Why?" She asked him.
Hiroki wanted to tell her something but forgot when his phone began to vibrate. It was Laura. So Hiroki had to excuse himself away from their conversation and walked back with Johnny.
"What?" He said, angry now.
"Did you get my text message?" Laura asked on the other line.
"Now I did." Hiroki said sarcastically.
"Hiroki, you know the drill."
"I would. But I'm a bit occupied right now. Have someone else take care of caveman, will you?"
"Fine. Do whatever it is you were doing." Laura, upset, hangs up.
"Hey is everything alright, pal?" Johnny asks as he pats his best friend on the back. Hiroki looked fed up. And he was. But he couldn't talk about it if it meant giving up his secret. He couldn't live a normal life without having to worry about William since his return. Ever since then, he had to be playing the role of babysitter to take care of him during his free time. But all that free time he needed was to catch up on his studies. So he felt bad and upset about it at the same time. If only there was someone else who could cover for him, he thought.
"Hey, Johnny. I'll catch up with you in a few. I need to ask a favor to someone I know." He tells Johnny.
"Why don't let me take care of it?" He insisted.
"No way. It's something I need that's above your level to do. Besides, we have studies to catch up on and you promised to help me, remember?" Hiroki said.
Johnny sighs, "Okay. So who are going to ask?"
"It doesn't matter. I'll be at our dorm in a bit. Catch up on Mrs. Hertz' science homework while I'm gone." He tells Johnny.
Johnny nods his head in compliance, "Ok, see you there. Haha." Johnny runs off to get a head start while Hiroki looks for his replacement. As he heads back to their form, Hiroki tries figuring out who to ask.

Laura's Dorm

Laura was finishing up the last of Mrs. Hertz' homework when there was a sudden knock on the door.
She couldn't reach the door so she yelled, "Come in!"
The door opened up and Patrick appeared.
"Sorry I can't talk right now but - Oh. Umm, hey Patrick!" Her tone changed the second she saw him. She moved her hair back to make herself look good to impress Patrick.
"Hey. I didn't know which one was your dorm so I asked." Patrick pulled open, from the plastic bag he was carrying, a pack of marshmellows with crackers.
"We're having S'mores tonight?" She giggles.
"I was thinking a bonfire outside campus." He says smiling back.
"Well, where are we gonna get the wood?"
"The gardener's shed, of course. I helped him out a while back last summer. He owes me one."
"And the school will let you?"
Patrick laughed, "Ha ha no. But he can."
Laura shakes her head and just couldn't stop smiling about their conversation.
"What?" Patrick smiling back at her.
"If I get attacked by a bear or something tonight, it's on you." Laura swinging her finger at him.
"I'll take my chances." Patrick says, catches her swinging hand. Laura screams in laughter when he caught it. Then, Patrick smoothly opens up her hand. She opens it. Then, the two held their hands palm to palm.
"We'll be fine." Patrick tells her. A change of tone happened as their moment was short lived by Hiroki's unexpected entrance.
"Hey so I tried asking Sam to cover for me and I tried looking for - Patrick? Patrick holding hands with Lady Einstein? Oh no. This is terrible!" Hiroki entered and fell on top of the bed with his hand in front of his forehead. Dropping dramatically next to them, the two got up and wiped their hands away while Hiroki laughs.
"Have you ever heard of knocking?" Laura asks Hiroki.
"Nope. But I do it all the time. I mean we shouldn't keep secrets from each other." Hiroki tells Laura. "Right, Patrick?" He shifts his attention towards Patrick.
"Secrets, oh?" Patrick talking smoothly, "Secrets, like your crush on Milly? That's no secret to us, right?" Patrick crossing his arms lifting the clever eyebrow. "How's that going for you by the way?" Patrick leaned forward towards Hiroki, intimidating him. Hiroki couldn't say anything. He was out of words. Most importantly, Patrick was right. Hiroki hasn't had a moment with Milly out since the Homecoming dance.
"Ugh!" Hiroki sighed in defeat. "You win."
Patrick nods his head to Laura giving each other a high five.
"Anyways, what's up?" Patrick offers him a couple of marshmallows to help him with his misery. Hiroki takes one.
"Well, the thing is, I know I have to babysit caveman William and all but I can't. I have homework and I'm behind. I could really use a break, you know." Hiroki lays his head on Laura's pillow. "I know I shouldn't ask, But could you-"
"- Sure." Patrick answered.
"Wait what?" Laura's facial reaction was in shock.
"Well, I mean, yeah. Why not?" Patrick smiled as he began to walk out.
"Wait! Where are you going? We need to talk about this." Laura didn't want him to leave just yet.
"Hey. It's alright. Hiroki deserves a break. Every hero needs one, right?" Patrick pointing his finger towards him.
"Awesome. Thanks, Patrick. I take back what I said earlier." Hiroki waving farewell to him.
"But, Patrick-"
"Hey. It'll be fine, Laura. William's probably starving after not eating today. It's already late. Hiroki was supposed to be there half an hour ago. I can't keep him waiting. Just do what you gotta do. You let me worry about him. I got it covered. Besides, I'm sure he wouldn't mind making some S'mores with me. It's time I get to talk with him."
"What are you talking about?"
"It doesn't matter." Patrick reached forward for his snacks. "I'll give him company in the meantime. Besides, what's the worst that could happen?"
Patrick finishing his conversation with Laura.
"Just be safe. And don't do anything wreckless with him, either." Laura answers back. She sounded worried.
"Wreckless? What do you take me for?" Patrick says sarcastically again with his sense of humor and smiles. Laura chuckles. She couldn't take him seriously with his good looking charm.
"Ok then. Just call me in case something happens." She tells him.
Patrick nods his head giving her the okay sign and leaves.
"You really are overprotective. You know that?" Hiroki said, eating his second and last marshmallow.
"Hiroki?"
"What?"
"GET OUT OF MY ROOM!"
Hiroki walks out with his hands behind his head. Laura slams the door on his way out knocking him off balance.
"Girls these days." Hiroki pulls out his tongue and walks back down the stairs.
"Reminds of me Yumi already." He mumbles to himself.
Not too far from the scene, Milly was there seeing and hearing everything. Then, she closes her door.
