Liam POV
"Why the hell am I here?" was my only thought as I walked down the hallway to my first class in my new high school in Virginia.
When we had moved to Ohio just before I started high school, my parents promised me that we would stay there until I graduated. It was the ninth time we moved since I was born and they knew that it was hard on me being the new guy all the time. But here we are, two and a half years later, moving for the tenth time.
I hated my parents. Ohio turned out being the best I had ever lived. I made a ton of friends, joined the football team, finally making captain this year, and had gotten beautiful, stunning, amazing girlfriend.
Christina Wilson.
She was the prettiest girl in school. Many people would disagree with that statement and say her best friend, Julie Starr, Head Cheerleader, was; but in my opinion they're all wrong.
Christina was- no, is- the most incredible person I had ever met. She was gorgeous, smart, funny. And the most unbelievable part of it all- she loved me just as much as I loved her.
Man, she was upset when I told her I was leaving. She cried and screamed and threw me out of her house. It broke my heart, but I knew she was hurting. I hadn't exactly given her much notice, seeing as my parents didn't even tell me until two weeks ago. Later that night she called me apologizing. We talked the whole night on the phone. We decided to break up because a long distance relationship would be too hard for both of us.
Back to the present. It was my first day at this school and I was getting ready to go to my first class. It was science. The class was boring, so I didn't really pay attention. Instead I thought about Christina the whole time. The same went for math and history. Finally, morning classes were over and it was time to go to lunch. Everything they were serving looked disgusting, so I didn't eat. I made a mental note to bring lunch from home for the rest of the year. I sat a table in the corner of the cafeteria by myself. Thirty long minutes later, sitting in silence and letting my mind wander to thoughts of my ex-girlfriend, I was able to go to my next class. I checked my schedule and saw it was English. Great, another period of having to pretend to listen to a boring teacher drone on and on about something I really didn't give a shit about while I continue to think about Christina.
For a large majority of the class I stared out the window by my desk at a tree. I wasn't really looking at it, it was more like I was looking through it, if you know what I mean. Seeing it, but not really seeing it. When there was about twenty minutes left in class, I started to look around the room at the other kids. Most of them were either texting in their desks, whispering to the kids near them, or even sleeping. A group of girls across the room were doing their nails with a small bottle of red polish that was being passed around them. There were probably only about two students in the whole classroom who were actually listening to the teacher. One was a scrawny, nerdy-looking boy with glasses. "He probably gets picked on a lot," I thought. The other person was a hispanic girl with long jet-black hair and black glasses. You know, the kind that hipsters wear. I couldn't tell if her's were legitimate or not. She had a light baby blue sweater on even though it was pretty warm out. She was very attentive to the lesson, switching from watching the teacher read out of her book and taking notes in her notebook. At least I thought she was taking notes, it was quite possible she was doodling or writing some weird fanfiction or something like that. I'm not gonna lie, she was really pretty, but only one girl holds a place in my heart, and she was back in Ohio.
After what seemed like much, much longer than twenty minutes (even though the clock said it was), our class was dismissed. Everybody rushed out of the room as fast as they could. I stood up calmly and gathered my books. As I looked up I noticed the girl I saw earlier was doing the same. She was probably the only one who actually liked this class. A second later she looked up and caught me staring at her. I quickly looked away and left the room, but not before seeing a light blush spread across her face.
