All throughout dinner no one paid any attention to the H/C haired girl but every now and then she would look up, feeling eyes on her and as she did she often caught the glare of her brother.

She shivered and looked back down at her empty plate ignoring the chatting around her and praying that the day would end.

"This way! Quickly now!" An older red-haired boy by the name of Percy led the Gryffindor first years to two sets of stairs. Y/N noticed the Ravenclaws walked down the set of stairs to the right. "This is the quickest way to the dormitories, do mind the stairs, they tend to move." Just then, far above them all, a staircase moved to another ledge. Y/N looked at it curiously.

"Come along now." Percy called as he began to walk up the stairs on the left hand side. As Y/N walked by she heard murmurs to her left and looked to see people in paintings moving and talking.

She remembered back at home there was a painting in the cellar where she had spent most of her time, hiding from Draco, it was of a woman with jet black hair, cold grey eyes and skin as pale as snow. Y/N liked to call her Snow White because she reminded her of the fictional princess from a muggle story book her mother had bought her ( without Lucius knowing of course) and her name was also Snow White. The woman never spoke but she had a kind face, and smiled whenever Y/N spoke of her day, gave a silent laugh whenever she told a joke.

Y/N suddenly felt sad, to think her only true friends were a painting, the house pets (which there weren't a lot of) and a house elf...

They were led up the stairs until they stopped in front of a portrait this time it was of a rather large lady wearing an old-fashioned frock.

She was still before she turned to Percy. "Password?" She asked monotonuously. "Caput Draconis." He stated pronouncing every syllable clearly. The painting came off the wall as though it were a door allowing entrance to the first years.

"Follow me. Keep up." They all entered a wide room decorated in red and specks of gold. The room itself looked old and a little out-of-date but nonetheless felt homely. The first years all seemed to be content with their new home, most were gushing over the decor and paintings. "Welcome to the Gryffindor common room. The boys dormitory is up the stairs and down to your left, the girls the same on your right. You'll find all your belongings have already been brought up." With that said Percy then left the common room bidding Ron goodbye.

Y/N followed everyone up the stairs and then followed the girls down to the right hand side of the hall. Y/N made her way to the front hoping to find a room before any others but realised, to her dismay, there was a list. She found her name along with Hermione, a girl named Parvati Patil, another girl named Lavender Brown and one called Fay Dunbar.

She entered the room and looked around until she spotted her belongings on the bed nearest the door.

Just then the other girls shoved past her and eagerly ran into the room. "It's amazing!" A girl with curly light brown hair cried in awe. They all gushed over the new room while Y/N made her way over to her bed, hoping to remain unseen by the other girls.

She opened up the cage which held her little black cat, Malcolm, who her father had previously owned. The small meowing of the cat caught the other girls' attention and they all turned cautiously to the young Malfoy. She glanced at them before picking up Malcom and taking him over to her bed. The other girls went back to their conversation, paying her no mind. The quiet H/C haired girl cuddled the cat close to her which resulted in purring from him. "Good boy." She whispered quietly.

_____

Y/N made her way to her first class which was Transfiguration alone after bidding Malcom goodbye. The other girls, including Hermione, had already left, presumably hoping to avoid any interaction with the H/C haired girl.
