This Girl Is Going To Drive Me To My Grave
Tyler FoleyAfter sixteen hours of Andrea's screeching- sorry, singing- we had finally arrived in California. If it wasn't obvious by the thirty degree weather, the massive sign reading Welcome To California told us. And if I hadn't read the sign, Andrea's loud whoops would have definitely alerted me. My father should've noticed we were gone by now. After finding Andrea's sleeping pills, I wrote my father a very polite note:
To my loving Father,
I listened and took into account every thing you told me yesterday. And you're very true and correct- as always. I should start to take an interest in Andrea! So her and I have decided to take the week off to bond and so Andrea can teach me her ways. Thank you for helping me see myself for the inadequate son I am. I am forever in your debt.
Hugs and Kisses!
Tyler xoxoYes, my father wasn't stupid. But he didn't understand the concept of sarcasm or irony at all. Every time I would try to piss him off with snarky or sarcastic comments, he would look at me like he wasn't sure how I was his son. He would probably read the letter and sigh contently because his only son was finally starting to see how inferior he really was. I hoped that he would be able to convince Lucy because she was a tough cookie that I was not going to risk my teeth by biting into.
'I love this song!' Andrea exclaimed, grabbing my knee and my attention.
An old song came on. The singer had a deep voice that sang from the heart to the listener's soul. Andrea swayed from side to side with the song's mellow tune, testing the seatbelt's patience. The car sleekly came to a stop at a red light. Andrea grasped my cheeks and looked in my eyes. She opened her mouth and long smooth notes came out. My breath hitched in my throat. I had forgotten that she could sing beautifully if she tried- like the first day I had met her. Her soft clear voice filled the car as we pulled up to Agatha's house. I broke into wild applause and whoops of encouragement.
'Encore! Encore!'
'Thank you! Thank you! I'll be here all week, folks!'
Her eyes were closed and her face was flushed with the effort of singing. I smiled. Maybe I could let my hair loose this week. I wouldn't have my father looking down my back constantly.
'Alright, Mr Foley where are we?'
'Shhh, you'll find out.'
I scrambled out of the car clumsily in excitement. Andrea was waiting inside. Why wasn't she getting out? Wasn't she excited to explore California? I asked myself as she waited patiently. I opened my car door and looked at her in confusion.
'Why aren't you getting out?' I snapped.
Before Andrea could open her mouth an authoritative voice barked down. 'Tyler you idiot boy! Open the door for your lady!'
'Agatha!' I turned around in excitement to see her leaning with half her body out the window. She held a wooden spoon in a large hand threateningly.
'Don't Agatha me! Open the door for her!'
I looked at Andrea, having almost forgotten she was there with the excitement of seeing Agatha.
'Really, Andrea?' I murmured to which she blushed but stared into my eyes defiantly.
Slamming the car door shut with probably more force than necessary, I walked to Andrea's side of the car and held the door open grudgingly as she climbed out with her head held high. I slammed her door as soon as she stepped out. She jumped then turned to shoot me a glare. I smiled mockingly at her then rushed ahead of her to get to Agatha first.
