The Funeral

I walked silently, disguised as a human. The funeral was today, and I wanted to see what they thought of my supposed death. I guessed that most would be rejoicing, probably because I declared to the world I was the last dragon.

The sun beat down on me as I got to the funeral home. I stepped in, seeing lots of people I knew. They didn't know, I told myself. Still, I could sense that they were uneasy around me. I just shook it off and went to the main room, where the coffin was. The room was large, but very plain. The only decor were a few tables and couches scattered about. I continued to the coffin.

I looked around, and looked in the coffin as I stepped close to it. Good, my fake body was still intact. I kept a straight face, everyone was silent in the funeral home. I went and sat down, watching everyone. There were some I didn't know, some I did. I just waited.

Suddenly, someone came in. I watched as the room shifted before my eyes. I cursed silently, they were here. I had to go, they had dragon-sensitive sensors, of which would reveal my secret. I stalked off, trying to find an exit. I noticed a few others were doing so too, and people were wondering what was happening.

I saw it, a small illuminated sign that said "Exit", right above a door. I looked around, thinking, just before I ran out.  I smiled, starting a fire in a part of the main room, and sprinting away.

They didn't like fire, they always tried to get rid of it as soon as they could.

I stopped by a nearby building, catching my breath. Not because I was tired from running, but because it takes a lot of power to keep two illusions up, especially when one is out of view and far away. I started walking home when someone cut me off, looking at me right in the face. They looked to be 25, in human years. They had ginger hair, and a smile on their smooth, pointed face. I looked at them, "Hello?"

They smiled, "Hi! You may be wondering who I am! I am Contrarasi-"

I hastily cover his mouth, he was easily 2 feet taller than me though. I growl to him, "You amateur, you should know using your real name in public has consequences."

They looked at me, obviously confused. I uncovered their mouth and continued to walk, "Follow me, we can talk at my house."
