He was dead that morning. The two people I had left. Gone just like that. I knew it was coming. They knew it was coming. Well three people actually. Let me explain. When I was 5 my mother had lung cancer. She was strong. But not strong enough. She died after only 3 months. She was barely 35. She didn't deserve to die. But then again, who deserves to die really? The light is only green for so long. You slow down as it turns yellow. Then then it's red. And you stop.
Then there's my late father. He was a good dad. Great actually. After my mothers death, he didn't blame us. He just told us it was going to be ok. And it was certainly going tone ok. But it's not right now. And it won't be for a long time. My father knew he was dying. He lost his job when I was 11. So we where homeless. Yet he still went searching for food and gave 95% to me and my brother. My dad died of starvation after 2 years of us living on the streets. He died May 11, 2008.
So from May 11, 2008 to June 23, 2014 my brother had taken care of me. Today he died. He just never woke up. He was 5 years older than me. The best big brother a girl could ask for. Loving, sweet, teasing, and a good kind of protective also. I don't know what I'm going to do without him. He was the one there to keep me safe at night. The one who would make me believe it could only get better. I really am going to be lost without him as my glasses. He made me see the world differently. I guess I'm just going to have to wait until my green light turns red.
